Meet Sunny

Sunny is a wonderful cat (estimated to be about 6 years old)that has had a really rough life. He was rescued from the bitter 6 degree temperature while we were trying to rescue a different cat. He was so sick, that our staff was able to pick him up right out of the egg crate he used as shelter. He had a bad upper respiratory infection; infection in both ears: dirty from being dehydrated; malnourished; very mild pododermatitis (explained below); severe dental disease; and tested positive for FIV (also explained below)

Plasma cell pododermatitis is characterized by infiltration of the cat's footpad tissue by plasma cells, causing the pads to swell. Plasma cells are mature B-lymphocytes that become activated and then secrete antibodies, usually in response to an antigenic stimulation such as an infection or an inflammatory process.

He tested positive for FIV or Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. Don’t let that scare you. With proper nutrition and veterinary care, FIV positive cats live a long, healthy life like any normal cat. FIV is also very hard to transmit to other kitties and can only be passed through a deep bite wound. As long as the cats in the home get along, Sunny is totally fine to live with FIV negative cats!

He was treated for his upper respiratory and ear infections, and after healing he received an extensive dental and was neutered. He had 13 teeth removed and the vet said he had pockets of infection and a couple of his canines were dead but left in there to hold his jaw in place. Living on the streets is hard for cats.

Even in spite of all of this, he is as sweet as they come. He is affectionate, has the cutest meow, and is tolerant of all the medications we had to give him. He is so awesome.

He just needs a home to land in. He's had a rough life and we want a loving family for him to show him the comfort of being in a home.
