Stork (fka Abbey) Domestic Short Hair Cumberland, ME

Stork is a lovely 5-1/2-year-old, short-haired calico who came to us from our animal rescue partners in Pennsylvania. Social and playful, she loves getting attention from people. When she first arrived, Stork had dry skin and a poor coat, and tended to have episodes of wobbling and falling over, followed by intense ear-scratching. It was clear that she had some kind of allergy and was prone to ear infections. Our Medical Team determined that the root of the problem was severe allergies, and treated her with an all-duck cuisine. Since it was determined she was deaf - we were committed to making her as comfortable as possible, so in June 2023, our Medical Team made the decision to remove Stork's ear canals and since then she has been doing amazing!

Initially, Stork was in one of our experienced foster homes to determine what diet was best for her. While in foster care, she blossomed into an even more loving and fun feline. She loved to follow her foster mom around like a dog. While not a lap kitty per se, she loves the "long lap" created when anyone lies down on the couch. The laser toy is her favorite, and she happily would run down hallways and up the stairs, chasing the little red light. Stork is now ready to find her "furrever" family, and she would make a perfect companion in a household as either the only cat or with a low-key feline friend.

In addition to her special diet, Stork is currently on medications for her allergies. Our Adoption Team will review her specific health needs with you prior to adoption. We will require that her adopters have an established relationship with a trusted veterinarian.
