SIMON*'s Story
Meet Simon, a handsome, young blue cat. Simon came into the Shelter with five other cats. Upon arrival to the Shelter in December, all six cats tested positive for ringworm (a fungal infection). They spent time in a foster home getting extra TLC and treatment for the ringworm. The whole group has now been cleared medically and are ready to find the purrrfect adoptive home. Simon's foster parent reports: Simon is a dashingly handsome young cat who will thrive with a patient and gentle adopter. Simon is an emotional commitment. If you’re looking for a cat who will cuddle with you the first night and let you walk right over and pat him whenever you want, Simon is NOT your guy. But if you’re willing to put some time in and sit quietly for a bit, or wave a wand toy around until he comes out to you, or to play — then slowly, over a few weeks — you’ll be rewarded with a devoted, affectionate, and goofy lap kitty. Everything in Simon’s life needs to be on his own terms, so he may always be a little more work than other cats (getting him in a carrier for transport also means waiting for him to come to you). Once he loves you, though, he is a loyal hunk of kitty velcro. You might not see evidence of it until you’ve had him for a while, but he really does love belly rubs, underarm scratches, and deep tissue massage. Simon gets along well with other cats. Simon would thrive as an indoor kitty, as he has grown up in his indoor foster home. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
