Meet Scout

*** We are looking for a forever foster, foster to adopt, or an outright adoption for Scout. If you are remotely interested, please call the adoption team and they can answer any questions you might have! ***

Hello everyone. My name is Scout. I came to West Suburban Humane Society from a neighboring organization who trapped me outside when I was a young girl. In my short 9 years of life, I have sadly been adopted and returned twice. Now I am on the hunt for my 3rd and final home. I've always been told 3rd time is the charm and that is what I hope for!

I've been through a lot in my 9 years, but this time, coming back to WSHS was probably a good thing. Through some testing and a senior wellness exam, the vet found that I have diabetes. After my diagnosis I was lucky enough to move into a wonderful foster home where I've spent the last few months getting regulated on my medication.

The following is what my foster mom has to say about me, "Looking for an easy-going, social cat? Look no further than Scout, the 9-year-old orange and white long furred kitty!

Scout loves everyone she meets and is a very snuggly girl! She likes to be around people and will seek you out (lap time!) whenever she thinks you're working too hard. ?? She tolerates daily brushing and adores chin scratches as well. She isn't the biggest talker but will do so occasionally to keep you apprised of how she is feeling and what she wants.

Scout is diabetic and requires insulin shots twice a day. She is an incredibly agreeable and easy kitty and doesn't notice or mind her shots. She's so easygoing that she posed for winter pictures with reindeer antlers on for me too!"

I know shots seem scary, I was scared at first too, but they aren't so bad now that I'm used to them. I hope that this easily maintained medical condition doesn't hold anyone back from wanting to take me home. I really am a sweet girl who just wants a lap to sit on for the remainder of my life!"

If you think you might have the perfect home for me, please reach out to the wonderful adoption staff at the shelter. They would be happy to talk to you about my medical condition and answer any questions you may have. Appy today so we can meet, and you can bring me home!

Please note - since we always accept our animals back we only adopt to the following Illinois and Indiana counties: Boone, Cook, Dekalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, Lake Cook, Indiana McHenry and Will.

If you are interested in meeting me, please fill out our online adoption application.
