HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway foster program, which gives cats a vacation from the shelter and lets them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org <br/><br/>---<br/><br/>- Gentle, shy, quiet lady looking for a calm, peaceful home with someone she can bond with <br/><br/>- Is a biscuit-making machine with the sweetest purr; when she feels safe she loves being petted behind her ears and along her back<br/><br/>- Not into being on laps and prefers not to be picked up, but likes snuggling when you're resting in bed and is very loving once you've gained her trust <br/><br/>- Has a lot of love to give and will be a wonderful companion for a quiet person or two who will allow her to settle in at her own pace; it took several weeks for her to become comfortable with her foster family when she was in a foster home, so please plan on giving her a few weeks in her new home, too <br/><br/>- Young, noisy or very active kids are too much for her, so she is looking for a mature home<br/><br/>- Has lived with another cat and may do well with a calm, laid-back cat in her new home<br/><br/>- May have feline idiopathic cystitis (FIC), but did very well in her quiet foster home and showed no signs of the condition there (more info at ARL) <br/><br/>- Please plan on starting her in one room of your home and giving her quite a bit of time to become comfortable with that area and with you before allowing her access to larger areas of the home; this process will help set her up for success by not overwhelming her<br/><br/>This cat is part of our Silver Paw Pets program, a foster and adoption program for pets who arrive at the ARL after their owner either passed away or was moved to a care facility where they could not take their pet.
