Our Mission

The Animal Rescue League of Iowa Inc. is Iowa's largest nonprofit animal shelter, caring for 13,000+ pets each year. The ARL serves people and pets from across the state of Iowa through its programs, which include pet adoption, animal cruelty intervention, pet behavior training, spay/neuter, pet support services and much more. Adoption Policy

If you see an ARL pet on Petfinder that you're interested in adopting, visit ARL-Iowa.org. If the pet is listed there, the pet is still available. If it is not, the pet has most likely been adopted. IMPORTANT: All adoptions are first-come, first-served and in person. The ARL does not have an online adoption application. If a pet has contact info in their bio, please reach out to that contact to set up a visit. If not, visit the location the pet is listed at at ARL-Iowa.org.
