Meet Rudy

Rudy a 3-year-old, loving cat looking for his forever home!

Rudy is very forgiving, he loves attention, and is very talkative. He has a tendency to be mischievous and likes to steal plants. Plants includes cacti, and he will leave them around for you to step on…safeguard your plants (and feet!) from Rudy. Rudy also enjoys the taste of adhesive--be advised he may attempt to eat tape or sticky traps, so best to keep them out of his sight.

Rudy loves pets around the ears, shoulders, and the back of the neck. He may play-bite if you scratch his rear, there is no conclusion if he enjoys it or not. If not provided with an appropriate amount of pets Rudy will resort to demanding them, and he will not be ignored.

Rudy loves playing with toys, such as balls and mice. He does not care for cat nip or cat trees. A scratching post is a must for Rudy, he will result to scratching all else before ever thinking of using one of those cardboard scratchers. Your investment in a good quality post will be worth it!

Rudy enjoys hiding, and when not, checking in on you to make sure that you are working hard and not at all distracted.

He starts off the day with a good cuddle when you wake up. Then he needs to run about the house at top speed for his morning exercise before breakfast. Rudy is very active, and his favorite hobby is running wherever he can. He spends several hours hiding and grooming, in between making sure to get a quota of pets. Late in the evening and right before bed he has a good sprint and play prior to tucking you in bed. You read that right, Rudy will tuck YOU in bed.

Rudy is living in a townhome with a dog friend and one human. He tolerates his canine roommate by mostly ignoring her, but otherwise isn't bothered. He is okay with cats and hasn’t met any children yet but would most likely be fine with gentle older kids.

Rudy's ideal home would either be living with someone who works from home and is able to provide him with plenty of attention, or a house with several people who are able to keep him busy. A dog would be fine, but no promises on a friendship forming. Another cat may also be acceptable, but again, no promises. Rudy will need plenty of room to run and sprint, so a studio may not be ideal.

Rudy has a cauliflower ear and ear infections will most likely be lifelong and common. Working with your vet to set up a simple plan for keeping Rudy healthy and happy will help keep him at his best.

Traveling is difficult for Rudy and moving into a new home may be a slow process. It could possibly take up to a month for Rudy to feel completely comfortable and begin to warm up. Right after moving, Rudy may hide entirely for a week or two and he may cry loudly at night. This will subside once he begins to become comfortable with you.

Rudy may attempt to live permanently in the litter box during the transition period. To prevent this, either provide a litter box without a lid, or take the lid off, and additionally provide a sizable cardboard box with a hole cut in it as a hide--basically a cardboard house for a cat. Some blankets draped over the box may be beneficial.

Rudy is a very sweet cat and just needs the right people to give him the compassion and understanding he so richly deserves.
