Roo in Vienna, VA's Story

Meet Roo! This almost-4-month-old bundle of energy has earned the nickname "the intrepid Explorer" for good reason - no corner of the house is safe from his curious investigations. Whether he's climbing, sniffing, or just supervising, Roo approaches every day like a brand-new adventure waiting to happen.

But don't let the explorer title fool you - underneath all that curiosity is a total sweetheart. Roo is deeply affectionate and loves nothing more than curling up in a lap for some quality snuggle time. He's a devoted little shadow, following his humans from room to room just to be close to the action (and the people he loves).

Roo's playful side really shines when he's tearing around with his brother Wally or launching into gravity-defying leaps after his favorite toys - this kitten has some serious acrobatic skills! He's also got a few delightfully quirky habits, like hopping into the shower after his humans are done, just to see what all the fuss was about. And of course, he never turns down a good meal.

At night, Roo settles right in with his people, curling up on the bed for a cozy night's sleep. Because Roo and Wally are so bonded, Roo must be adopted alongside his brother - or go to a home with another cat already in it. Equal parts adventurer and cuddle bug, Roo is looking for a family who'll let him explore his world while always having a warm lap, a fellow feline friend, and a comfy bed waiting for him.

Operation Paws for Homes's Adoption Policy
Our organization provides pet adoption services to families located in Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, Southern Pennsylvania and neighboring states. We believe in responsible adoptions and strive to work with each adopter to find a good match for their home and lifestyle. Our adoption process includes completion of an application, a vet check, an interview, and a personal “meet and greet” where the family can meet and interact with their potential new four-legged family member. Throughout this process, we work to ensure each family and dog are the right fit for each other. We are fortunate to have some wonderful and active volunteers who help OPH find forever homes for over 1,000 dogs and cats a year. The key to that statement is - volunteer! Please remember that our organization is driven by caring individuals who give their personal time to help rescue these animals and provide them with the opportunity to find an amazing future! In addition to adoptions, volunteers carry out education and outreach events throughout the area, and conduct donation drives for our partner shelters in the south. Our goal is to offer a second chance to dogs and cats abandoned in shelters and out of time. Sadly, without our help, some of these adoptable animals would face almost certain euthanasia - sometimes within days of arriving at the shelter. Each year we rescue hundreds of wonderful dogs and cats. We work hard to unite them with forever families who will give them the life and love they deserve. These animals are saved only because of the dedication of our incredible adopters, fosters, donors, and volunteers.
