Rocket's Story

Meet Rocket!

Rocket has been through a lot and is in desperate need of a soft place to land. Being a lost cat and landing yourself in a shelter is stressful enough, but Rocket here has has some medical challenges to overcome as well. When he arrived at the shelter the vet team quickly noticed a significant injury to one of his eyes. Since the injury happened before he arrived, we aren't sure what exactly happened; ultimately, they vet team decided that the best thing to do would be to remove Rocket's eye. So, this guy has had ALOT of things that he's needed to adjust to over the past few weeks and it shows in his quiet and reserved demeanor. Still, he always accepts pets and attention with a gentle and loving appreciation.

Rocket will definitely need a calm and quiet space to decompress in before he is ready to dive fully into being apart of a new family. We are told that he did however, do well with the children in his finders home during his short time there. Since being here at the shelter, Rocket has always used his litterbox like a perfect gentleman. He has not had any opportunities here to interact with other pets so we would strongly encourage that his adopters do slow and gradual introductions to any resident pets after he has had the opportunity to get comfortable in his new home.

Intake Reason: Stray

Medical Notes: Rocket was found to have a severe corneal ulcer of his left eye. The eye was surgically removed (enucleated) in order to prevent further pain.

This pet is up to date on vaccines, spayed/neutered and microchipped. Adoption hours are 12-5pm daily (arrive by 4:30) at 13800 Manor Road in Baldwin. Head to our ‘Adoption Resources’ tab for more information on our adoption process, fees and exceptions!
