Riva (declawed)'s Story
CONSIDER ADOPTING ME!
Yes, I used to be the scariest cat in the world, putting the fear of death into anyone who would come near me, but it's not my fault!!
It's bad enough for ANY cat to find themselves all alone outside fending for themselves, but far worse for a cat who has also been front declawed like I had been. ?
By the time I was rescued, I was beside myself and using any way I could to push people away. Growling, hissing. I even lunged for the full effect. If anyone tried to touch me for real, I would even try to bite. (Claws are our main defense; remove those and we are left with no other recourse than to bite when we feel threatened.)
The good news in all of this, is that I've been given a chance to recover from the horror of those first days. I'm so much calmer now because I feel safe. I am not quite 100% because, for that to happen, I need to be in a quiet home with an understanding human who will allow me to continue to heal from my past trauma.
I know pretty much ANYONE looking at me will want me because of my Persian dna and my stunning appearance - but anyone with superficial fancy-cat desires and/or children in the house need not apply. You're not putting a bow in my hair or taking me to the groomer anytime soon. This is me, I have progress to make, and I need the real deal so I can fully heal.
I can and will tolerate another cat or two
but ideally, it'd just be me and you!
Please help me to find true and forever love! Come adopt me now or SHARE this post so I can be home for the holidays!!
Love,
Riva
(3-5yo and available at our Adoption Center in Huntington Station NY)
