Meet Riley

Riley came to us from Operation CatSnip with Turbo. They didn't know each other unfortunately because they had to live in isolation due to being feline leukemia positive. Since they could not live with the community kitties, they had no choice than to live in cages. When the wonderful folks at Operation CatSnip heard ARC had space, we coordinated for Riley and Turbo to come live with us!

Riley did okay with Turbo, but sometimes would get over stimulated and go after Turbo, usually during play. He seemed to be better with his female roommate Coconut. Riley is definitely the ringleader in this trio. He was the first to make friends with their new human caregivers and is definitely the voice of the room! He lets us know when they are hungry, need attention or just want us to know they are there and can hear us! Riley is outgoing and will let you know exactly what he is thinking and what he wants!

Currently, Riley is living in a cage because Coconut was a adopted and we put another male in the room. It did not go well with all that testosterone. He is definitely cat-selective, but seems to do best with female cats or as an only kitty.

Riley is marked as "special needs" because he is positive for the feline leukemia virus (FeLV). This does NOT impact his lovingness, playfulness or adoptability, as you can see he is a healthy boy! However, he should go to a home with either no other cats or a home with other FeLV positive cats. There is a lot of information on the internet about FeLV, but not all of it is accurate or up to date. To learn more, we recommend starting with the Alley Cat Allies white papers to veterinarians FeLV Fact Sheet: https://www.alleycat.org/resources/feline-leukemia-virus-felv/.

If you're ready to make Riley a new member of your family, please fill out an adoption form from our website animalrefugecenter.org or hit the inquiry button and we'll be in touch!
