Poppy's Story

Poppy is a beautiful female tabby about 2.5 years old with lots of sweet and spicy personality. She is a special girl who needs a special home. Poppy loves her people and follows her foster folks from room to room. She wants to be near you and loves pets and head scratching. She will allow you to hold her and will occasionally sit on your lap, but usually she chooses a spot close by. Being with her people helps her feel calm and safe. Poppy wants to be Queen of the Castle and does not respond well to other animals. She should be the only pet in the home. She loves to play, especially with wand toys, kickers, balls, or laser pointers. Even though she is extremely playful, Poppy can become over-stimulated. She will need a home that knows how to handle playful nips and understands when to disengage from and prevent rough play. For this reason, she would be better off in a home where there are no small children. Poppy also becomes anxious when left alone for long periods and would not do well in a home where she is left by herself for 10 – 12 hours a day. She is fine for shorter periods. When she is anxious, she will nip or grab at feet to get attention and to give you heck for leaving her alone for that long. Poppy needs companionship. The perfect home for Poppy would be an experienced more mature household where someone is home most days. After a settling in period, Poppy will be a fun-loving and affectionate companion with many years of love to give.

Poppy has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and tested negative for FIV/FELV. We are hoping to find a forever home that is experienced with cats and that is willing to give Poppy the chance she so deserves. If you have room in your heart & your home for this spicy but affectionate girl, message us here, email heartstohomesfelines@gmail.com or fill out an application at www.heartstohomes.ca.

Hearts to Homes Feline Rescue & Sanctuary's Adoption Policy
Our adoption process includes an interview, an agreement with a reference and we deliver the cat(s). We have two big asks that form part of the agreement – 1) that you agree not to declaw and 2) that you agree not to let the cat roam free outdoors. Please note that for kittens, we look for them to be adopted into a home with another active, playful cat or to be adopted in pairs. We have found that kittens do best developmentally with feline companionship. When adopting, we ask adopters to consider the following: 1. consider the time commitment; cats live 15 - 20 years; 2. consider the financial commitment of food, litter, annual veterinary care; 3. if renting, ensure the acceptability of pets to your landlord; 4. commit to keeping the cat safe and commit to not de-clawing.
