Meet Pong

We'd like to introduce a very special kitty. He has quite the story and we couldn't be any prouder of him...

When Pong was brought to us as a stray in mid-April, we opened the live trap that he was in and he darted out. He, quite literally, ping-ponged around the room; absolutely terrified. Once we were able to get him inside his kennel, he hid underneath his bed for days, even weeks.

Luckily, our kennel staff goes above and beyond for the animals, especially those that need a little extra help. The kennel staff, as well as volunteers, have worked hard to gain Pong's trust.

Over time, Pong began to come out from underneath his bed and would take treats. Then, he would show interest in being petted. Then, he started coming up to the front of his kennel and purring! One day, he let us hold him and he started kneading his little paws. It melted our hearts! This adjustment was not easy for him, but he did it! Now, he is ready for adoption!

Pong will need a home who can be patient while he adjusts to a new environment - he most likely will need time once he gets home to acclimate. It would be an even better fit if his adopter is cat-savvy and has helped scared kitties learn that they are safe.

His purrsonality actually cracks us up! Sometimes Pong acts like he isn't sure how to be a cat (in a good way, of course!). He'll look at kitty toys like he has never seen them and doesn't know what to do with them but once he figured out that feathers are fun, he likes to play! Same for other kitties, he doesn't seem like he is sure how to act! He may do okay with a very slow introduction to another kitty but we are still watching his behavior to see.

Pong is currently living in another area in the shelter, so please make sure to ask for him when you stop by! He may need more than one visit to get to know you but lately he has been doing amazing meeting strangers! He's shown to be lovable and interactive. He for sure is one special boy and we love him so much.
