PINE*'s Story
Meet Pine & Birch – two 4-ish month old kittens. These boys came into the Shelter as part of a larger litter who were fearful upon arrival. With time, patience and some dedicated staff and volunteer loving, Pine and Birch have come out of their shell. Although they would still thrive with a cat-savvy adopter, they both enjoy petting and would love to bond with their new family through play. A home together would be wonderful, as they enjoy each other’s company but they are not required to be adopted together. A home with a confident feline friend may be appropriate and aid in their confidence building as they age. To keep them safe (as well as our local wildlife), Pine & Birch would thrive as indoor-only kitties in their next home. Pine & Birch's adoption fee has been sponsored by the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter's Leave No One Behind fund - a fund that draws adopter's eyes towards animals that have been waiting a little bit longer than average for the right adopters to come along and bring them home. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
