Pepper Domestic Short Hair & Tuxedo Mix Norfolk, VA

The gorgeous gold/green-eyed, tuxedo-wearing Pepper will never be a lap cat, but he is easy-going, good-natured, house-trained, and loves to rub on things (including humans that he trusts).

He's a sweet boy who just never learned to love human touch. He'll find favorite spots to hang out, quietly, not causing any issues at all. He's a really good companion to other kitties. Once he's been around you for a few months, he'll get more and more used to you, showing his purrsonality, not running if he trusts you to honor his boundaries. He may even let you pet him a little, quietly, moving nice and slow.

Pepper is very independent, not aggressive and not a hissy-spitty kitty, unless he doesn't know you or he feels you have ignored his boundaries (if he knows you, you're allowed to come very, very close).

It's important to set reasonable expectations when bringing any new cat home. We offer the Rule of Threes.

> 3 Weeks: To get familiar with your house and its routines
> 3 Months: To settle in and feel like they're home

I may never be a lap cat, or snuggle by your face;
I’m quite aloof and lovely, but I’ll beautify your space!
I want to be your kitty; just don’t hold me tight.
If you try to kiss me, I might put up a fight.

As a baby kitten, I had no human cuddles.
Now I need your patience, though I can’t reward with snuggles.
I won’t be good with children; they scare me just a bit.
They run around and grab me; while I prefer to sit.

I’m an independent feline, but I need your love and care.
I want to live inside with you, but I need my own chair.
I will keep you company on long and winter days.
I’ll sit and watch you as you work - I might decide to play.

I may let you come closer, once you earn my trust.
I’ll definitely eat your food, and good treats are a must!
So won’t you take me home with you and give me lots of space?
And time to be more comfortable and roam about your place?

You can worship and adore me, and I will love you too.
But I am not a lap cat, and that will have to do.


All our adoptable cats and kittens are:
— spayed / neutered
— vaccinated (rabies & FVRCP)
— tested for FIV & FeLV diseases
— parasite-free (dewormer & flea prevention)
— provided additional veterinarian visits, if needed for any health issues
— conveyed to you with all medical records at time of adoption

3. CONTRACT: If you & your cat (s) are a good match, then the adoption proceeds. Contract is completed, signed, fee is paid, and your new furry friend(s) can go home with you!
