PEANUT's Story

He has a combo of cotton -silky coat that will require moderate care since it's not prone to significant matting. At 5years old and 8lbs he is fully grown. Peanut is a cautious and curious guy who can be a bit shy and reserved to start. Once comfortable (and please be patient), Peanut will slowly but surely warm up and seek out constant human affection. He enjoys being talked to, pet and eventually held.

IDEAL HOME
Peanut needs a home that is stable, calm, quiet, patient, and experienced and will let Peanut move at his own pace. Peanut is not a demanding kind of kitty, but the more time you invest into him, the more you will receive in return. Peanut would thrive with an attentive family who's home regularly and willing to indulge his daily need for affection. His wish list includes cat trees near windows for bird-watching and cozy spots to lounge with his favorite humans. He is obsessed with human attention once comfortable.

A quieter home without too much of anything would be ideal. He will not thrive in chaos. As with any new cat, starting off in a safe space with plenty of time to acclimate is critical. Starting out, he prefers to observe you from a safe distance, but he is easily swayed with some encouraging talk, quiet time together and once you get petting, he'll keep rubbing up against you for more. He currently eats a variety of Open Farm kibble with smatterings of wet food(we haven't found a wet food that he'll fully commit to as of yet) and enjoys the fresh, clean water from his ceramic water fountain.

Peanut is perfect with his litter box. (With all of his fluff he prefers no covers). He's a bit of a slow eater and eats from a flatter plate that's elevated.

CARE REQUIREMENTS
*Feeding: Open Farm Kibble, supplemented with a wet food for kidney health.
*Litter: Large, open-style box with unscented clumping litter (one box per cat, plus one extra) currently using Worlds Best & Grass Seed Litters.
*Grooming: Combing and slicker once a week with a monthly nail trim. His eyes stay pretty clean for a Persian and is fine with his eyes being wiped with a cotton round with Eye Envy.

TRANSITION TIPS
Peanut needs a patient family who understands that settling in takes timeoften up to 3 months. Peanut will absolutely need to start out in a "base camp" room in his new home, while he becomes familiar and comfortable with his new people and environment. Hell let you know when hes ready to explore more of the home. Please research bringing home a new cat & proper cat introduction. YouTube has many great Jackson Galaxy videos to help.

VETTING PROVIDED
Exam, neutered, tested negative for FELV/FIV, FVRCP and rabies vaccinated, completed parasite protocol, Dental, and is microchipped. Medical Records are supplied at adoption completion.

LOCATION AND ADOPTION
Fostered in Valparaiso, Indiana (45 min from Chicago and SW Michigan, 2 hours from Wisconsin).

Adoption fee is $400.00

To be considered as a possible forever home, complete the adoption application here:

https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/PURH/Cat

Please fill out the application thoroughly and with detail.
