Meet Opie

Looking for sweet AND handsome? Meet Opie! Are you a big hearted soul, ready to take care of a kitty with a heart condition?

Opie was rescued by one of our partners because he was found in a feral cat colony and was clearly not a feral cat. He's too sweet! Opie loves pets, he's very friendly and will ask for your attention by rubbing up on you and tapping you gently with his paws. He's also chatty and will follow you around so he will be a great companion! He also gets along fine with other cats as long as they aren't too bossy, he is pretty chill. He's an adult cat with a lovely buff/light orange coat, and he's got an interesting pattern on his tail. He's a big boy so we hope you've got plenty of love to share!

Opie was recently adopted but then returned when it was discovered he has a heart condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. In short, it means his heart muscle is thicker than normal. It's the most commonly diagnosed heart condition in cats so it isn't rare, but it does require daily medications and preferably a quiet home. He's very good for his pills! He can play and do normal cat things, but he may want to relax sometimes - don't be alarmed if he seems a little tired now and then.

Opie tests positive for FIV, which does NOT require daily medications nor impact his quality of life. Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) is ONLY passed through deep bite wounds between cats and cannot be passed to other animal species or humans. FIV kitties can live with, share food bowls, litter boxes, groom and wrestle with non FIV housemates with no risk of transmission. Opie qualifies for our special needs fee due to his FIV positive status and his heart condition.

Opie is an adult cat who is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, tested FIV positive but FELV negative, and microchipped.
