Oliver was a stray in Evansdale, Iowa. He was in the animal control holding unit and his time was up. So Waverly Pet Rescue took him in and he is now living in a foster home. He is now up to date on shots, tested FeLV / FIV negative, and neutered.

Oliver is about 2 years old as of August 2019. He is very mellow and easy-going. Slightly fearful at first of new situations, but he comes around with patience and time. He seems very gentle and kind. Oliver enjoys being petted and any attention you can give him. He has not been around other cats yet. He does not like dogs so needs a home with no dogs. Older kind children would be best. Noisy little ones will scare him.

1/27/20 UPDATE! Oliver does well with children of all ages. Oliver is an awesome kitty and loves attention. He does not like dogs at all so must have a home with no dogs. Oliver loves to eat and is quite enthusiastic about meal-time. This is quite common with a cat that has been a hungry stray. Be careful to not overfeed him. Even though he ate proper portions, he will try to convence you that he is still starving, ha. Oliver loves scratching posts and will need a large assortment of scratchers to use his claws on so he doesn't try to use the furniture. He is a love once he gets to know you. It will take several weeks or even months for him to completely warm up and trust you. This is also fairly common for cats. Once he does, he is very affectionate and a purring machine. He purrs so loud you can hear it from across the room. He is not that fond of being held, but likes to snuggle up next to you.

Oliver's adoption fee is $95.00.

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com

All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $250 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
