NINA*'s Story

Meet Nina, the adolescent kitty. Nina came to the Shelter after a good Samaritan had been seeing her around the area for a few weeks. Nina arrived to the Shelter with some signs of needing extra TLC – underweight and hairloss. Our clinic team and animal care team got to work giving Nina the things she need as well as looking at her skin. With time and patience, Nina’s skin improved and she began to gain weight. Nina can be a little hesitant when you first interact with her but, with some time, her comes up to headbutt people’s hands and solicit attention. Nina would thrive in a cat savvy adoptive home where she is given the space to acclimate on her terms. It may take a bit to see her purrrsonality but she is likely to bring a lot of joy to her next home. Nina has shown interest in other cats in the Shelter (looking at them from within her kennel). A home with another cat may be a fit with a slow, thoughtful introduction. Nina is available for pre-adoption. Come meet her, fall in love and take her home after her spay surgery. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
