NEW FOSTER NEEDED FOR BROTHER & SISTER SIAMESES, BRADY & MINKA (P.S. WE LOVE WHEN OUR FOSTERS ADOPT)'s Story

NEW FOSTER HOME NEEDED FOR BROTHER & SISTER SIAMESES BRADY & MINKA! (P.S. - WE LOVE WHEN OUR FOSTER PARENTS ADOPT - AND MOST DO!)

Failed by humans again.

We rescued Brady & Minka from a hoarder house that was being foreclosed on. We placed them with a wonderful foster parent and in May, she informed us she was going to need to be hospitalized for an extended period of time so we searched for another foster home for Brady & Minka. We placed them in one in mid June, and we thought it was perfect and they are doing so well there - so perfect we thought this foster home would also turn into their adoptive home. But their new foster parents decided they don't want to care for cats. They don't want these sweet babies who love on them and follow them around, and we are being asked to move them again. THEY DID NOTHING WRONG.

More upheaval. More stress. No regard for the impact it will have on these kitties who have been through so much already. While a rare occurrence for us, when we do have a foster that doesn't want an animal, we worry that the care of those animals could be compromised at any time, so this is an urgent and time sensitive need for a new foster home with wonderful people who will care about these kitties who are so deserving.

We are seeking a new FOSTER home at this time. Brady & Minka are not fully vetted (they both need dentals and bloodwork for those dentals), and we never make permanent placements when we are under pressure to move an animal (nor would their current fosters, who want them gone, host meet and greets for them. And Brady & Minka are picking up on the vibe that they aren't wanted - and are not demonstrating their true personalities as such). Upwards of 95% of our foster parents adopt their foster animals - its hard not to fall in love - and why we rarely have animals available for public adoption (their fosters adopt them!) Adopting is never a requirement for fostering by definition, but it does happen so often, so fostering first does not matter to the right, selfless people whose primary interest is that of the needs of the cats in this moment (the only type of person we adopt to - which is why we love adopting to fosters). So if you are interested in these two, you need to apply to foster them, they more than likely won't be available for public adoption because whoever fosters them is no doubt going to want to make them permanent members of their family!

Minka & Brady are natural brother and sister. Brady (named after Tom Brady, because he's so pretty) is the shyer sibling. His eyes are so unique - they almost look human! They are also crossed which is a common trait of some Siamese, and adds to Brady's charm. Minka is slightly smaller and has the little crumpled ear from an ear infection that wasn't treated in her former life (you don't get vet care in a hoarder house - but she's fine now!). She's the wild-child of the pair, and you can see it in her eyes - we've never seen a cat with such expressive eyes as her! She's curious, outgoing, & bold. Brady looks to her for reassurance & confidence & we're certain he will again when we have to make this new transition.

These kitties LOVE attention and affection! They will stare at their foster as if to say, "Look at us! Give us love!" and will do it until said affection is given. And like typical brother-and-sister, if one is getting attention and pets, the other will literally get up from where they are and try to intercept the attention the other sibling is getting and try to get it for themself!

They are lap kitties and love to be near you and if one is on your lap, the other will have to be touching you in some way (see photos). It was a nightly ritual with their original foster mom to have couch time with her after work and watch shows together. Minka likes to be held and she will lick your face which is so cute!

Brady is very attached to people and needs to be sleeping with you (usually on your pillow with you) so their foster must allow kitties in bed! Minka may join you in bed, too, but she's a little more independent and sometimes prefers to sleep on her own, but will often choose a cat bed within eyesight of where you sleep to keep an eye on you & her brother.

The kitties are 11 years old, but trust & believe, these aren't seniors that just nap 24/7 - that's actually abnormal. Like all of our animals, Brady & Minka are fed biologically appropriate raw food that their bodies can use for vitality & energy, so they're running around, chasing each other, playing, getting the zoomies - not sluggish like animals that eat processed foods that slow them down. (Not to mention their coats are AMAZING from the raw diet!) So their foster must love engaging them in interactive play, not just snuggles. Minka likes playing wand toys with you. Brady prefers his little small toys, his favorite being his little glitter balls - cross-eyed & all, he bats them around like a pro!

We all have work and other responsibilities, so when you're gone, the great thing about a bonded pair is they have each other! Brady & Minka will nap together and hang out together. They also like to watch the birds and other wildlife from a sunny window - a favorite past-time.

These kitties have been through a lot in life - what most of us humans couldn't have survived for 10 years. We made the correct environment placement in their original foster home and their current foster home (unfortunately, it just isn't with the right people in their current foster home) and they blossomed - so we are going to seek the same type of home so that continues for them - they deserve that.

Brady & Minka are very sensitive kitties for all they have had to live through. They don't like chaos of any kind, they don't like loud noises, and they don't like a lot of people in their home - they will shut down, hide, and even stop eating. As such, they are in need of a quiet, tranquil, low-key adult-only foster home with an individual or couple (though a home with an older, well-mannered, mellow late high-school-aged teen in it may be okay) who describe themselves as their home and enjoy a quiet lifestyle and peaceful existence. They are looking to be the only animals in the home. They have enough personality to fill the whole home and will keep you laughing and smiling for sure!

All of Milwaukee Pets Alive's foster homes must be in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Kenosha, Racine, and Ozaukee counties - and so must Brady & Minka's. We work closely with our foster families and we must be able to easily access them and our animals, and our animals must have easy access to our veterinary partners central to these counties.

All of our foster parents must be able to commit to their foster animal for as long as their foster animal needs them. As a special needs and considerations rescue, our foster placements are longer term. Many of our foster parents develop a very close bond with their foster animal as they help them with their needs and considerations to be the kitties they were always meant to be so again, it's no surprise, many of our foster parents adopt their foster animal. While it's definitely not a requirement to foster, we have an extremely high foster-to-adopt rate for the aforementioned reason. We dare you not to fall in love with Brady & Minka and want to make them permanent members of your family.

Do you have what Minka & Brady need? IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN FOSTERING THEM, YOU MUST COMPLETE AND RETURN OUR FOSTER APPLICATION FOUND AT www.milwaukeepetsalive.org/foster ***Because time is of the essence, DO NOT SUBMIT YOUR FOSTER APPLICATION VIA POSTAL MAIL - we pick up mail at the post office very infrequently - RETURN YOUR FOSTER APPLICATION EITHER BY SCANNING AND EMAILING IT BACK, OR BY FAXING IT. We cannot consider you for fostering without a completed foster application. We will not entertain inquiries coming in through the short Petfinder form (and if you fill it out, we will know you did not read this profile all the way through). You must follow the aforementioned instructions and foster application process.

Help some precious lives in need. It will be the best thing you ever do with yours.

If you have any questions about fostering in general or Brady & Minka specifically, you MUST email our Foster Team at foster@milwaukeepetsalive.org (again, we will not accept inquiries or questions coming in through the Petfinder form, nor through our adopt@ email address. Brady and Minka are NOT currently available for adoption as aforementioned. Follow directions, please).

Milwaukee Pets Alive is an all-volunteer, No Kill, special needs and considerations rescue that focuses on saving those local animals in Southeast Wisconsin that have been passed over by, would not be accepted into, or would be killed by other rescues and shelters because of their needs and considerations and would have no other option for life except for through our organization. These animals may be shy, scared, under-socialized, injured, aged, differently-abled, have medical needs, or need extra resources - all deserve the chance to be loved and cherished. And all deserve time, understanding, patience, and good, comprehensive veterinary care to help them get happy, healthy, and reach their highest potential. Their lives are important.

Our mission, through our work aforementioned, and through comprehensive programs and resources to educate and help community members help the animals in their own lives (thereby preventing more animals from entering the shelter system), is to end the killing of homeless companion animals in Southeast WI. The population we rescue comprises those that continue to die in the greatest numbers in our community.

Our vision is for Southeast WI to be one of the safest communities in the United States for companion animals.

We couldn't help these special animals of our community that we do without the wonderful people who foster them!

Milwaukee Pets Alive's Adoption Policy
All of Milwaukee Pets Alive's rescued animals live in foster homes as beloved members of a family as they await adoption into their forever homes. We do not have a physical shelter location. Our animals never stop being members of the MPA family - there are too many people here that love and care for them. When our animals get adopted, their adoptive family becomes a part of the MPA family. We stay in touch, share photos and updates, and sometimes even get to visit with our Alumni! - our adoptive families know we are all very attached to the animals who have come through our program and we want to hear about the beings we shared our hearts and homes with. If you want to adopt and never be heard from again, Milwaukee Pets Alive is not the right organization for you. If you want to be a part of a family for a lifetime, you’ve come to the right place. We are able to share these comprehensive bios for each of our animals with you because we know our animals well as they already are members of a family living in foster homes! We want to get to know the people who are inquiring to be considered as part of our family as adoptive parents as you will be a vital part of this organization! If you are interested in one of our family members and are a match for what they are looking for, please SEND AN EMAIL to adopt@milwaukeepetsalive.org and tell us about yourself, why you are looking to add a companion to your family, what drew you to one of our beloved family members, and what you can provide our family member. We take the time to tell you who our animals are in detail. We will not consider inquiries from people who don't take the time in return to tell us about themselves and what they can give the precious life they want us to consider entrusting to them in equal detail. As such, we also will not consider inquires that come to us via the petfinder short form “Introduce Yourself” which does not provide enough information for us to determine if there is a potential match between our family member and the inquirer. Every companion animal has wants and needs which are just as important as those of the human seeking a furry family member. Fulfilling and making sure our animals have everything they want and need is something we take very seriously. We are not able to respond to inquiries that are not a potential match to meet the wants and needs of our family member so check that you do before inquiring, and provide lots of details so we can make that determination. You can never provide too much information, but you can provide too little which could result in a good match being passed over. Considering homes for the family members we love and care so much for is a process of great significance and one our organization puts great thought and time into. Milwaukee Pets Alive is like no other rescue in the SE WI area (maybe in the state...maybe in the U.S....maybe in the world!). We are working for the day that animals are seen as equals with humans (it’s strange to us that to many, they still are not – animals are so amazing) and seek individuals who share the same philosophy to join our family as adopters! Please read about the work we do, how we got started and how we chose the model of rescue we did, and our core values on our website at www.milwaukeepetsalive.org and you can see more personal stories about our animals and the people that love them on our facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/MilwPetsAlive. After doing so, if you are interested in our organization, the work we do, and one of our companions, please email adopt@milwaukeepetsalive.org. Thank you!
