MORTY's Story

Introducing MORTY! This adorable 7 year old Persian male cat is in need of a home where he can be the only cat...he is the type that needs to be the King of his castle! If you are looking for a single kitty to share your home with you as a companion, Morty may be the cat for you. Morty is currently in foster care in Northern NJ.

Unfortunately Morty was surrendered by his owner when he could no longer take care of him. Morty is a sweet, handsome boy, who loves his people, and sometimes plays like kitten and can be quite entertaining! Morty has learned to take walks on a leash just like a dog! (see video)!

Morty is currently in a difficult situation since the home he is now has multiple cats which he is not used to. This stresses Morty out leading to challenging behaviors that were not seen in his previous home when he was the only cat. He should not be in a home with other cats or young children (under 16 yo) since younger children can also stress out a cat like Morty that has never had exposure to them previously.

Due to the fact that we know Morty much better now, we are looking for a home that has NO other cats whether it is an adopter or a foster home, we just need to find him a place where he is the only cat. Morty does like cat friendly dogs and does well sharing his home with a canine friend as long as they are respectful of his boundaries!

Morty (as all of the cats for adoption) has been thoroughly vetted prior to adoption including spay/neuter surgery, fully vaccinated (rabies and distemper), blood tested negative for FIV and FLeV, microchipped and treated for all parasites.

All adoption applications for any cat must be submitted online;

https://savingfancycats.org/adoption-application

We read every application that is submitted and it can take us 2-4 days to respond to most applicants. If we believe you may be a potential match for the cat(s) we will respond to you via email. This email will detail all the next steps required in order for you to be officially approved as an adopter. Our email can easily be flagged as spam/junk so please check those folders for our response.

We will ask all potential adopters who pass the first step to submit/complete the following;
-2+ personal references
-1+ veterinary reference
-home interior photos/videos or in person tour
-your building's pet policy from management or your landlord (if you rent)
-1+ alternative designated caretaker(s) for the cat(s)
-scheduled phone interview with a member of our team

*General inquiries about any cat cannot be responded to without an application submitted first. If the cat is on petfinder.com the cat is still available.

Adoption fee is non-negotiable.

What your (tax deductible) adoption fee/donation covers:

Spay/Neuter surgery
Full vaccinations (2 x distemper/FVRCP and feline rabies)
Blood Tests - FIV, FLeV, Heartworm, in some cases additional blood work
Anti-Parasitics - all cats are dewormed, treated for fleas/ticks, ear mites.
Microchipped - All cats have a registered microchip

**You may see our cats posted on petfinder elsewhere, or other adoption sites with our rescue partners! We are working together to find a great home for Morty and sometimes it takes more than one rescue to get this done. If the cat is still on petfinder.com he is available but all potential adopters will be notified if this status changes.

***Can't adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring one or more of the cats on our petfinder page so that we can assist our rescue partners with food and litter and proper veterinary care.

Felines For Adoption Cat Rescue's Adoption Policy
Adopting a cat from Felines For Adoption Cat Rescue (dba Saving Fancy Cats) 1. If you see a cat that is posted on petfinder.com, they are still available for adoption - but the cat could have potential adopters currently in the vetting process. If you're interested in the cat and want to be considered, please simply complete our adoption application. https://savingfancycats.org/adoption-application 2. We are an all volunteer organization and have limited staff to manage the amount of adoption inquiries and individual questions we receive on all of our adoptable cats and therefore we do not respond to emails or phone calls about the cats posted unless there is an adoption application sent in first. https://savingfancycats.org/adoption-application 3. We review applications on a first come, first serve basis, but we match cats based upon the first best match. It may take 3-5 business days for us to respond to your application. We will not respond to your application if we have either; found an adopter, or believe your home/situation is not the best fit for the cat. Our goal is to ensure the highest possibility of a successful adoption that lasts the cat's entire lifetime. **Please be sure to check your spam or junk email folders for our response to your application as many times our email is flagged! 4. We will request the following from all applicants before you are approved as an adopter and/or meet the cats in person; - a virtual or in-person tour or photos of the interior of your home. - 2 personal and 1 veterinary reference -rental/lease agreements (if you rent) or HOA pet agreements. -at least one alternative party who would be responsible for the cat(s) if you were unable to care for them short or long term. -you must have the capability of keeping the newly adopted cat(s) in a room with a door in order to be separated from the rest of your home and any other pet for at least 14 days.
