Meet Little Spicy Quail

She was a quail hunter. She was not very good at it, being just a waif of a kitten. But with her ear tips frozen and her tail tip frozen and she was very hungry, it was worth a try. The quail owner caught her in the quail pen and figured she had no good intentions being there. And from the amount of food she ate when she was taken inside, they were right.

That's how she came to be named Quail.

She was feral. Or so they thought. She hissed and smacked at any human trying to make contact. When we were called, we sent her to a foster home. Day one, we knew she was not feral. Feral cats don't walk out of the carrier and start rolling and scooting around on the carpet like they've done that all their lives. She had lived in a house before. But it might have been a while. And maybe the people were not so nice, because as much as she loved roaming the house, she seemed to dislike people. She was spicy! She hissed and smacked when people came near, before she went back to her luxurious rolling and scooting as if she was in some luxury spa with a magic carpet massage.

So she became Little Spicy.

She loved and still loves the all the kitties. Any new cat comes in the house and she is there to reassure them. She and her feline friends can play all day long, all night long, like little crazy things running through the house. Hiding around doorways to ambush each other and tumble and leap. Watching is all the entertainment a person could need. From the minute she was brought in the door, Little Spicy has been an adorable bundle of joy and delight, minus the hiss and smack.

And then one day, the hand touched her face and head, a gentle pet. You could see the wheels turning. No hiss. No smack. Little Spicy had made a decision; this living with a nice human and kitty friends in a house was okay. Having this safe relationship with people was better than okay. It could be great. Yummy food, kitty friends to play with, a wonderful carpet to slide and scoot around on, and love. Being gently pet. CATNIP! Kindness and love. This was paradise!

Now Spicy comes to her human to pet her, scratch her ears, more and more. She loves human attention. We think it's time for her to find her own forever loving humans and forever best friend kitty and peaceful home and safe yard, and have a chance to settle into a happy place that will always be home. The transition to a new place and people and kitties--a gentle dog is okay too--is going to take some time and patience. But Spicy deserves a chance to have that magnificent life that is possible now that she has come so far from her quail hunting days. And for some lucky family, this little girl is going to be a treasure of joy and happiness and love.

Little Spicy is about 7 months old, maybe 8. Being hungry as a kitten likely slowed down her growth. But she is now strong and vibrant and full of kitten sass and delightful shenanigans. She lost part on her ear tips and the tip of her tail to the cold but that just gives her a cuter spicy look. If you are looking for a kitty who is ready for a home and so much love to give and get that it might cause your heart to burst, please give us a call. She's in Anchorage. 907 980-8898.
