Miso (Humanitarian Adoption)'s Story

[Note: Miso is located in St. Catherine’s, Ontario]

Born in June 2025, Miso is a friendly, affectionate, and incredibly resilient young cat looking for a loving forever home.

Miso is the kind of cat who wins people over quickly. She’s cuddly, bright, curious, and deeply connected to the people she trusts. Despite facing significant medical challenges early in life, she continues to approach the world with determination and sweetness.

Miso was adopted through TNR La Pêche by a devoted couple in the Greater Toronto Area. Not long after her adoption, her health began to decline, leading to months of veterinary visits, testing, and uncertainty. Thankfully, after beginning treatment for a neurological condition affecting her strength and mobility, Miso has made truly remarkable progress.

Today, Miso is stronger, more comfortable, and enjoying a much better quality of life. She has a unique waddling walk and some ongoing weakness in her back legs, but she remains mobile, engaged, playful, and eager to be part of daily life. Her veterinary team has been very encouraged by how well she has responded to treatment, and her progress suggests her condition can be successfully managed long-term.

Miso may move a little differently than other cats, but she doesn’t let that slow her down. She has already shown just how adaptable, brave, and full of life she is.

Sadly, due to unforeseen family circumstances, her adopters have made the heartbreaking decision to find Miso a new home where she can continue receiving the attention and care she deserves. This decision comes from a place of deep love and commitment to her long-term wellbeing.

MISO’S IDEAL HOME
Miso would thrive in a calm, loving home with adopters who understand that she has special medical needs — but who also recognize how much joy, companionship, and affection she has to offer in return. Her future family should be comfortable:
- Giving daily oral medication
- Monitoring her mobility and strength
- Keeping up with regular veterinary care

In return, they’ll gain an incredibly loving companion with a gentle spirit and a truly inspiring story.

MEDICAL SUMMARY
- Diagnosis: Suspected immune-mediated polyneuropathy, a neurological condition affecting muscle strength and mobility
- Current Treatment: Daily medication including Cyclosporine and a tapering course of Prednisolone
- Progress: Significant improvement since starting treatment
- Long-Term Outlook: Likely manageable with ongoing care; veterinarians are optimistic due to her strong response to treatment
- Ongoing Needs: Daily medication and regular veterinary monitoring

HUMANITARIAN ADOPTION
Because of Miso’s ongoing medical needs, this will be considered a humanitarian adoption, and her adoption fee will be waived for the right home.

Miso has already overcome so much in her young life. Now she’s looking for a family who will see beyond her physical differences and love her for the affectionate, resilient, and special cat she is.

For more information please contact Tnr.lapeche@gmail.com

--

- l’administration de médication orale quotidienne ;
- le suivi de sa mobilité et de son état général ;

- Besoins à long terme : médication quotidienne et suivi vétérinaire régulier

ADOPTION HUMANITAIRE
