Mia is a domestic short haired, mostly white with dark brown tabby spots on her head and back and a brown tabby tail, spayed female cat who is estimated to be 1 year old as of the third week of January 2026. Mia was the young and suspected first-time mom to Oreo, Rolo, Toffee and Truffle who have all been adopted, and now it is momma Mia's turn for a forever home. Mia is a sweet young lady who was an excellent mom to her kittens born outdoors in challenging and unsafe conditions. <br/><br/>Mia is enjoying the indoor life of a house cat that is secure, climate controlled and with an established supply of food, water and cat toys. Mia is initially timid around new people and unsure around children, but her confidence has increased now that she has discovered toys, and she really enjoys playing with toys and other cats since her mothering days are over. Mia is not a dominant or territorial cat and does not start any former momma cat drama. Mia can be adopted as a solo cat in the household, or go to a home with other resident cats.<br/> <br/>Mia and 5 kittens were removed from a rural area in Becker County, MN south of Detroit Lake at approximately 2 weeks of age. Sadly, one kitten had been attacked by a predator, and was still alive when rescued, but died shortly afterwards from her injuries. Mia was doing her best to protect, nurse and keep her kittens safe. She was in the process of moving her kittens from underneath a dilapidated trailer to another location, and more than likely the other 4 kittens would have met the same fate had this cat family not been rescued. In addition, had the person who did rescue and remove this cat family had been allowed onto the property when first contacted, that kitten would probably still be alive. Attacks from predators are a harsh reality to vulnerable kittens born outdoors who also face temperature extremes, disease, starvation, collisions with motor vehicles and cruel humans. Such suffering would be drastically reduced if people spayed and neutered their pets and kept them on their property.<br/><br/>Spayed; current on vaccinations including rabies; feline leukemia virus and feline immunodeficiency virus negative; dewormed; microchipped; and litter box trained.
