Meet Houdini the handsome magical boy's Story

Hello there, friend! Thanks for stopping by!

At Hobbes Haven our mission is to help shape & support a better life for feral & stray cat colonies in our varying communities of the Columbia River Gorge Oregon.

We want to introduce you to Houdini (don't forget his bonded brother, Muppet)!

He was rescued with his brother Muppet and 12 other kittens at a site of 40+ feral cats.

This beautiful, gorgeous, loving boy got his name from the very first day he arrived at Hobbes Haven He was the only kitten that maneuvered out of the kitten crate and managed to squeeze himself in the smallest gap between the wall and the furnace. Like a professional escape artist, this little guy maintained his cool and showed us he could wiggle out if he wanted to, but instead he made us work hard for him and open the drywall from the other room in order to pull him out from behind the furnace!
This magical boy is incredibly talkative and loves to sing while he runs on his cat wheel, as if he were saying "Look at what I can do, mom!" He has a luxurious black coat that he enjoys having brushed, and he tolerates nail clippings even though they are not his favorite. This sweet boy is loyal like his brother Muppet, and loves to stick by you if you're laying around or taking a nap. His favorite spot is on top of your chest looking down at your face, and right now that is tolerable because he is still under a year old kitten, but when he grows into his big paws, he may be too heavy to sleep on anyone's chest!

Houdini was lucky to have been rescued along side one of her brothers, Muppet; they both faced some of the harshest conditions born as feral kittens entering the fall season near the base of Mt. Hood. Due to them being rescued together and tamed for domestication alongside one another, they have endured growth together that has bonded them. Our goal is for Houdini to be adopted with his bonded pair and brother Muppet.

We hope to find families that will keep in touch with Hobbes Haven and update us with pictures and videos of our rescued angels! Remember that many times we have been fostering these kittens for many months, and that is another reason you know Hobbes Haven is a good hearted organization to support, because our goal is to find the RIGHT homes NOT a home RIGHT NOW.
Here at Hobbes Haven we focus on supporting the health and well being of feral and stray cat colonies via T-N-R-M; during out initial visits to a site, if we encounter kittens or cats young enough or friendly enough to domesticate, we rescue them from those sites and work with them directly to get them healthy and ready for a second chance at a life as a part of a family and a home. Our rescued cats and kittens are unique being that they were born as feral cats, meaning the time it took to domesticate them may have been more involved than others. When you support Hobbes Haven via your adoption and donations, you are helping a bigger ripple effect, because you are supporting existing feral cat colonies stop their cycle of suffering by getting all cats sterilized and vaccinated, but also offering a very rare second chance to a few lucky ones.

At Hobbes Haven, your adoption fee helps us cover this kitten's start-of-life veterinary care at our collaborating veterinary clinic here in the Columbia River Gorge- this is a transparent one to one transaction, absolutely no revenue is made from this.

Up to the point of adoption, Hobbes Haven has covered the following out of pocket: FVRCP vaccines (most of the time 3 out of 3 of the first kitten series), deworming, antifungal bath/s, veterinary treatment for ailments as kittens (URI), food, cat supplies, entertainment etc- this is why your donations matter and help make a difference!
