Matilda's Story
Introducing Matilda, a super unique eyed, grey tabby cat. She is also a polydactyl, meaning she has extra toe beans on her front feet, making her the best biscuit maker there is! The start of Matilda’s life is a mystery to us but we know she’s looking for a lovely home to put an ending to a confusing beginning. Matilda found herself on someone’s property in Poultney at the beginning of last summer, where the humans were nice enough to provide food and water. Although those folks posted, asking if anybody knew her, nobody claimed her. The generous people were going to keep her, but unfortunately their dogs were not on the same page. After making their last plea for someone to take her in before winter, one of The Feline Connection's fosters stepped in to give Matilda a warm place until she can find her forever home. At first Matilda was very scared and didn’t want much human contact. As the time has gone by, Matilda now will allow pets and seeks attention by bouncing up and rubbing her foster's legs with her body. She enjoys this attention for a few minutes, and then lets her foster know when she’s done and wants her space with a little hiss before moseying on to the next thing. Matilda’s foster doesn’t know whether she will become more open to attention as time goes on or whether Miss Matilda will continue to value her independence. One of Matilda’s favorite things to do in her foster home is watch out the window. However, Matilda also loves cat beds, blankets, and caves, catnip, and scratcher boards. She is still working on playing with toys. Food and treats are Matilda's absolute favorite. Matilda has also recently begun to mingle with her foster's resident cat. At this point, she is still getting a bit hissy, but hasn't gone after them, so Matilda may be open to living with another kitty.
