Mama (aka Sweet Pea) is an almost-3-year-old sweet kitty looking for her forever home!

Sweet Pea is shy at first, but in a quiet home with predictable people and schedules, warms up within a few weeks. Since being in her foster home, she has become a vocal, sweet, attention-seeking, affection-seeking constant companion. We were told by the previous family that she "doesn't really play" which broke my heart. But now after a few months with us, she LOVES to play all the time and wants her humans to participate, especially with fabric mice, or any strip of fabric on a stick. She likes to take her fabric mice out of her toy box and toss them around, hide from them, then run after them. Her favorite keeping place for her mice is under the couch. She wants to be around all the time and is a great work-from-home buddy, making several appearances on virtual meetings.

Sweet Pea likes to have conversations with you and will come when you call her. She likes to be petted and if she gets nervous about anything, it calms her down. She is not a fan of visitors and will hide. She should be given a place where she can get away where kids or any other animals cannot bother her.

She also loves to scratch. We have several scratchers for her and that works for the most part, but she has found some furniture she likes also, so nail clipping would be a must. She loves couch time with her humans after dinner and claims her spot right in the middle of the couch. She loves being pet and going out on the deck to chase bugs. She gets the zoomies in the morning and will entertain you with her antics and air jumps.

Sweet Pea will want to be with you all during your morning routine, checking out your shower when you're done, testing the running water in the sink for drinking, and following you from room to room. She gets a treat of Temptations, Delectables Bisque, or soft food in the morning. She'll hang out most of the day if you work from home and takes a long afternoon nap. Then she's rested and ready for some play time or cuddle time at dinner. She'll follow you to bed but doesn't spend the whole night on the bed. She will let you know when it's time to get up though.

Sweet Pea lives in a quiet home with two adults and no other pets so we've really seen her personality come out. She likes to go on the deck but we only let her out when supervised and there are no stairs so she cannot escape.

Her ideal home would be an established family without many future changes and no children or calm, respecting children. Being the only cat would be fine with her but I think she could be introduced very slowly to another cat or dog. Her family would need to be willing to take more time for this process than normal due to her past situation and provide a separate, secured space where she can be with her humans and slowly become acclimated to another animal through the proper introduction steps only if they are compatible. If her humans will be working outside of the home, she would like some extra attention when they are home.

Former experience with timid cats would be nice, but not necessary.

Sweet pea had a litter of cats when she was very young but has been spayed. She is very petite which makes her just as cute as she is sweet.

There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimate.

All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated. Cats are up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption.
