Mallory's Story

Mallory: former feral, now attention hoarding cat and human lover

Mallory's story: I was a teenage pregnancy mom, on the streets, living in a cardboard box in shed until one day the residents found us and contacted Fitchburg Friends of Felines for help. I thought I had a great hideout for me and the kids. Guess not.

I was scooped up with my babies, and the rest is ancient history.

I am now living the life of riley, enjoying the outdoor life from inside my foster home. I am a huge fan of perching on cat towers in front of windows and watching the birds, and anything else that goes by the window.

I have found the joy of being around humans. When I first came, I definitely was reserved. Now, that is in the distant past. I enjoy making attempts to trip my humans by strategically wrapping around my humans' legs when they attempt to walk. So, anyone who is unstable on their feet, I am not thinking I am the kitty of your dreams.

My humans have a huge tolerance for my needs of attention. I also carry my toys around, batting and chasing them, which my humans find very amusing. I was a teenage mom, so I did not get a chance at a kittenhood. I have now found my opportunity.

I am a fan of head butting, and head rubbing my fellow resident cats. I am happy to rub my face on absolutely every inanimate object I can get my face on.

I am a chirper. I have learned when I do my adorable noise, I get a Churu. If I need anything at all, that noise summons humans.

I love making razzberries! Okay, I just stick my tongue out for fun, but my foster family does still find this adorable.

I love to be pet and happily will purr when getting this attention. I am still kind of learning how to be domesticated, as when I am done the attention seeking, I find it best to swat to let you know I am done. Luckily, my humans are cat savvy, and have already caught onto my inability to stop doing that entirely, and can read my signs when I am done with petting.

I love to play with my other kitties. We chase each other for fun. I love being involved in the kitty family that is here and I would definitely will need a buddy in my next space.

I am a belly exposer, just to tease you into thinking my belly needs rubbing constantly. I actually only need two rubs, then I am done. I roll around and expose my belly and am constantly stretching out. I also am a fan of butt rubbs. You know it!

My scratchers are my fun place. I love to climb up them and rub on them, rolling around on them and giving them love. I also would require a scratcher in my new space. I have a couple shorter ones that know my loving as well.

My night time overnight ritual is currently a mystery. There is this kitty that does not care for me at all, even though I try. He sleeps on my human at night, so I cannot go near, as he has made it clear I am unwelcomed. My human thinks if I had the chance, I would be the one on her chest. In the AM when my human's alarm is going off, I am by her feet as soon as she is trying to get out of bed, making my attempts to rub through her legs and trip her.

Now I've got it made and I know it!

My ideal home would be with a family that is cat savvy and understands that I may take some time to warm up to you. I need toys and stuff to climb on, like a cat tree or furniture. I am not thinking a senior or someone unsteady on their feet would be a good fit, due to my need to walk between legs. Also, toddlers may not be a good fit due to my need to swat on occasion. If you have a sunny window spot that my cat tree could go in front of, I am all for it. Another feline or two... or more... in the home is a need for me, as I find comfort in other littles. I am hoping there is a kitty in need of a friend, and family in need of an adorable cow cat such as myself.

Fitchburg Friends of Felines facilitates a foster to adopt program that places the intended adoptee with the potential adoptive family. This ensures that your feline companion is the perfect fit as well as provides support as you both transition into your new life together.

You can fill out an adoption application here:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe1685w60NjfU2eeE55Cd57TAaEZU7bERjyY825EMto48sTQw/viewform

Please reach out to Fitchburg Friends of Felines directly at 978-222-3170 or fitchburgfriendsoffelines@gmail.com with questions. Fitchburg Friends of Felines, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
Potential adopters are required to have a solid character reference, vet reference, and a site visit which can be conducted virtually. Due to MA regulations, we cannot intake pets from out of state. We offer a foster to adopt program to guarantee the intended kitty is a good fit for your family. We also require that all adopters agree to return the kitty should the adopter no longer be able to care for him or her in the future, or an agreed to person is identified to continue care for this kitty. We are not a brick and mortar; all available cats are kept in foster homes. Therefore, we would need time to schedule a visit to meet a kitty. We are happy to travel to match the perfect kitty for your family. Our adoption fees are normally $250 per cat, $350 for specialty breeds or exotics, and $50 less per kitty if interested in multiples. For specific questions, or for an adoption application, please feel free to reach out to us directly: fitchburgfriendsoffelines@gmail.com or call our hotline: 978-222-3170
