Meet Kiwi (FIV+)

Kiwi is an adorable, playful girl who would love a forever family to help her celebrate her all-important first birthday in February. Kiwi is a little peanut at just under 8 lbs. but she enjoys living large. She has never met a spring coil toy or tunnel that she doesn't love. Her fav activity is chasing a coil that was thrown into her tunnel! Kiwi will often prance around the house with her beloved coil in her mouth and will even retrieve it. She also loves to chase after wand toys and enjoys flying up and down the stairs. Kiwi shows her keen intelligence when she thoughtfully observes the birds and squirrels outside her favorite window. She's very inquisitive and teachable.

While Kiwi self-entertains very well, she craves the attention of the people in her home. If she feels you haven't been giving her enough, she will let you know by getting between your feet and placing a dainty paw on your leg. Kiwi is a very confident cat and will let you know what she desires. While Kiwi loves attention from her humans, she would also enjoy a four-legged friend. She has spent time with other cats and can be cat selective. She currently lives with an elderly dog and Kiwi tries very hard to get her to play. Kiwi would enjoy a younger, social, active kitty friend and/or a younger playful dog who could keep up with her. She would probably enjoy older children as long as they respect her spirit and throw her beloved coils for her to fetch.

Despite a very rough start in life, Kiwi is joy-filled and a delight to be around. She was a young, stray kitten in a small, western MN town. From her time on the street, her ears were frostbitten and she was likely bitten by another stray FIV+ cat as she now tests positive. Fortunately, a small rescue cared for her for several months before she made her way to Pet Haven. Because she is FIV+, Kiwi will need regular dental check-ups. She also has a skin issue due to her status and will be on prednisolone off and on, likely for the rest of her life, to control scratching. This is a very low-cost medication that is administered as a liquid in her wet food. Kiwi has no idea it's there and she's a great little eater. She also is a litterbox champ.

Kiwi is active in the morning and in the evening. She's a master napper during the day so that she is raring to go for your evening's entertainment. You can't have a bad day when Kiwi is around. She elicits smiles and laughter with her antics. Kiwi's many talents include that of master biscuit maker, after which she will settle into your arms for a nice cuddle. She's also quite a conversationalist and will greet you in the morning with some chirps and toe chasing under the covers. Kiwi is very adaptable. She travels to her foster's other home a few times a month and rides nicely in a carrier for the two hour ride each way. She's very comfortable in both homes and goes back and forth with ease. She's an easy keeper who will climb right into your heart.

Kiwi is FIV+, but that doesn’t mean she can’t live a long, normal, and healthy life! Cats with FIV commonly have average lifespans. Because FIV is spread only through deep bite wounds, FIV positive cats are able to live with FIV negative cats in stable social environments. If you are looking for a playful, young cat to add to your how consider this sweet girl, Kiwi.
