KIWI's Story

KIWI is a darling BLUE AND WHITE DWELF. She is around 4 years old, spayed, has her claws and weighs a petite 5 pounds.

A Dwelf is a mix of Sphynx (hairless), Munchkin (short legs) and American Curl (ears). Kiwi came out of a pretty terrible situation where she was being bred constantly and has fortunately been in SPCR care for a while recovering and being stabilized. She is an incredibly affectionate, LOVING and SMART cat, delighting her caregiver daily with her antics. She is very active and can do most things the big cats can do and follows her foster mom around like a small puppy.

Kiwi is most certainly a special needs cat and we are looking for a VERY SPECIFIC type of home for her. Please read the following requirements below before applying:

1. Because of the abuse she has been through, Kiwi does NOT like other cats. She is very people oriented and would probably be ok with a gentle dog.

2. Kiwi has an autoimmune skin condition that requires she be on a prescription diet as well as two different types of inexpensive medications to keep her stable. This is a condition that will have to be monitored her whole life. Regular vet care will be mandatory.

3. We will prefer Sphynx/Rex experienced people only, with rare exceptions.

This poor little girl has been through so much that she deserves the best possible home. We know you are out there, she just has to find you!

Special Needs Adoption fee $150. FOSTERED IN KENOSHA, WI.

Specialty Purebred Cat Rescue's Adoption Policy
We rarely get kittens of any breed. If we do, they will be listed in the “Available for Adoption” section. We can only hold cats for ONE WEEK. IF YOU ARE NOT READY TO ADOPT A CAT NOW, PLEASE WAIT TO FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. Please remember that our cats are located in various foster homes in 6 different midwestern states (Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota). We do adopt to people out of state but WE DO NOT SHIP OR TRANSPORT OUR CATS. You must pick up the cat in person at the foster home. You cannot send a representative. So, you would be looking at a road trip or plane ride. If you cannot do this, please DO NOT APPLY. We do not keep a waiting list for any breeds. Please be sure that you are interested in a specific cat on the “Available for Adoption” page before filling out an application. YOU MUST FILL OUT EVERY SPACE OF THE ADOPTION APPLICATION OR IT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED OR PROCESSED. Please note: we will contact your vet to make sure your other animals are fixed and up to date on vaccinations. Please notify your vet and give them permission to release your information to SPCR.
