Jet is the absolute sweetest, most social cat on the planet! It took him all of thirty minutes to warm right up to us, including him learning to not to scratch our furniture and learning to use his litter box. He is super playful, but doesn't necessarily demand a lot of attention; he's just as happy playing by himself as he is having someone play with him. We joke that he is a dog-like cat; he loves attention, cuddles, belly rubs, and even playing fetch. He will seriously go back and forth with a toy, bringing it back to you to throw every time- it's the most adorable thing. He even greets us at the door when we come home by nuzzling his face against our legs. Jet truly loves being around people, whether taking naps by our feet or even jumping up on the bathroom counter to watch as we brush our teeth. Although he loves being a part of it all, Jet is also a great listener and very responsive when we tell him no; he will jump down from anywhere or stop pawing at something almost as soon as we tell him. He is incredibly well-behaved and patient, truly letting us do whatever we want with him with little complaint. He doesn't meow much, and when he does it's pretty quiet and only to indicate that he is either hungry or doesn't appreciate the door being closed because he wants to hang out. Another awesome strength of his is Jet's ability to read the room. He'll bring toys to play fetch if he sees you scrolling on your phone, but as soon as you lie down to go to sleep, he's ready to hit the hay too. Jet is truly the cutest, friendliest, and most photogenic little guy and everyone who meets him instantly falls in love!

City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats.

Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.

Cat specific vetting: Rabies, FVRCP. Cats are tested for FIV and FeLV, when age appropriate, but not when born to a FELV/FIV negative mother in foster care.

Kittens have age-appropriate vetting to date, which includes deworming, microchip, and the first FVRCP vaccine. Kittens born in care to a negative mother will not receive a FIV/FeLV test. An adopter will need to agree to cover costs of spay/neuter when he/she is age-appropriate (usually 16-20 weeks) and will need to continue his/her kitten vaccines (including rabies) as he/she grows older. Kittens under 12 weeks of age must be adopted in pairs or to a home with friendly resident feline. They will not be considered as singles.
