Meet Ichabod (FIV+)

Ichabod (aka Iggy) is a 3.5-year-old big orange boi looking for his forever home!

SUMMARY:
Iggy is a very sweet cat who’s come a long way since living on the streets. He’s big, muscular, and loves to play anytime or anywhere. His ideal home has plenty of wet food, another playful FIV+ cat or possibly a friendly dog, and a human who can keep him company. He’s made a lot of progress toward being a sweet, gentle house cat, and he’d be happy to tell you all about it (he loves to chat and chirp at his humans).

THE FULL STORY:
Iggy was born and raised on the streets. He ended up being too sweet for the street, and a good samaritan took him into their home. They taught him how to be an indoor cat. Unfortunately, because he lived outside, he contracted FIV and had to be separated from the other cats in the house.

When he arrived at his foster home, he was immediately ready to explore his new room! With confidence and trills, he smelled all the new smells and toys. He knew exactly where to do his business, where to scratch his claws, and where the cafeteria was - which is his favorite place of all time. He likes to go by his food bowl and sing the song of his people until we serve him the daily special… which is pretty much always the same wet food. But he LOVES it! He even makes little snorty noises after he eats while he's licking his chops clean.

Although he has his own room where he can decompress, play, and snooze the day away, he would prefer to always be around his humans. The resident cat at his foster home isn’t too sure of him, though (she’s very particular), so he tends to hang out in one section of his foster home. He does really good around cats. He never hissed at the resident cat. But he just really wants a playmate, and she isn’t having it.

Iggy’s second love after food is toys! He will play anytime or anywhere that you are willing to play with him. His favorite toys are wand toys and tunnels. He loves to jump over and run through tunnels to catch the strings. He’s very energetic and athletic for being such a big boy! He definitely could’ve been a linebacker in the Kitten Bowl.

Since he was an outdoor cat, Iggy is still learning how to communicate and trust humans. When he first came to his forever home, he would swat at humans when they pet him. But now he knows that soft pets are very pleasant and he will come up to you and meow for pets. He gets sweeter every day!

Although he does have FIV, he can still live a very normal and healthy life. He will just need to be with another cat who shares his status or a calm and friendly cat-savvy doggo. Here’s more info about FIV: https://resources.bestfriends.org/article/fiv-cats-faqs-feline-immunodeficiency-virus

Iggy’s ideal home would be with humans who have cat experience and can read cat body language. His ideal home would also have a friendly and playful, FIV-positive cat for him to play with. He would also love to have access to all the rooms in a home because he gets some FOMO if he doesn’t get to be with his humans. He would also like a home with windows to look out and with humans who can spend time playing with him.

He truly is a sweet, outgoing boy! He will bring so much love and laughter into his new home!

There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimate.
