Howie's Story

Staff Pet Pick: Howie
with Kya, Shelter Coordinator

Howie is a very sweet, spunky older kitty who has completely won Kya’s heart — and honestly, it’s easy to see why. With his big personality and even bigger purrs, he’s always ready for a snuggle and will happily melt right into your arms.

Kya describes him in three words: sweet, bossy, and laid-back — and that pretty much sums him up. He loves attention, wants to be near his people, and isn’t shy about letting you know when it’s time for food (or more pets). His sweet nature is what stands out most... he just genuinely loves being with people.

But Howie’s story goes deeper than that.

This 9-year-old gentleman has been through a lot. When he came back to us, he wasn’t feeling his best — he was very sick, underweight, and needed medical care. Our team got to work, and thanks to that care, Howie’s diabetes is now in remission, something we are incredibly proud of.

He’s a completely different cat now — feeling good, enjoying life, and showing everyone just how special he is.

Recently, Howie got to explore our catio — and that was a moment. He strutted out there like he owned the place, chasing leaves, soaking it all in, completely full of himself in the best way. It was pure Howie. He’s a character, through and through, with a personality you just don’t see every day.

He’s also a total attention hog who wants to be wherever you are. He doesn’t love when you walk away, and if the pets stop too soon, he may give you a tiny reminder — just his way of saying, "hey... not done yet." He can get a little overstimulated at times, but it all comes from how much he loves being with his people.

Howie is looking for a home that will stay attentive to his health, keep him on a managed diet, and partner with a veterinarian to keep him feeling his best. With consistency and care, he is doing beautifully.

He means a lot to our team, and he’s ready for someone who will truly cherish him.

Adoption sponsored by Louis Cevigney — no fee to adopt.
