Meet GRACE

Happy Spring! Kitten Season is here again and we need to make room to get Moms and kittens in and fixed! Please consider adopting- especially some of our older residents! Remember you save TWO cats lives and make countless more cats & kittens lives better by adopting! When you adopt one cat, it makes room to save another! Win! Win! The kitties thank you too!

We are hoping for a miracles too! We are searching for experienced cat parents to adopt some of our kitties who have been at the shelter awhile and need more socialization and time to adjust to their new life- like Grace!
If you think this is you and you're looking for a new kitty to add to the family read on!

This is Grace!
She's a domestic short haired grey and white spayed female, up to date on her shots, around 3 years old and available for adoption to be an indoor ONLY cat from Griffith Animal Control/Treasured Friends Rescue in Highland Northwest Indiana.

Hi, I'm Grace!
I was living outside with my kitten last year in the cold. It was hard finding food and taking care of my kitten ..we were always hungry. I finally found a nice human who started feeding me and my baby. Then one day my kitten and I were in a trap and we came to the shelter. My kitten was able to get a home, but I haven't yet. I'm still a little unsure and shy around humans. I like humans and I'll get close. I like to play and be taken care of but, I think I need some one on one time with one human to develop a real bond. That's just not possible at the shelter, but it would be in a real home. I would like it if someone picked me and wanted me! I know I have found my human when they will give me time to settle in with them and were patient with me while got used to my new life. I think if someone wanted to give me a chance, then I would trust them, relax and be a kitty again!
I'm waiting for the right person who can give me that. I know that person is out there or I wouldn't have been brought to the shelter for a second chance at the good life!
I am sweet and promise to be a good friend and quiet companion and maybe even more someday!
I know I'm not a kitten anymore. I know I'll be passed over for being shy AND for being older but I'm still hoping someone is willing to give me a chance. I still want to be loved and have a real home.
I'm at the shelter, so please come by to see me! I like kitties, so a home with another kitty (with the proper introduction) would be the best! Since I'm still shy, your resident kitty will help me flourish and show me how kitties have positive interactions with humans! Plus I love to play! However, I dont know if I would like dogs or kids. I've never been around either so not sure if I would like them. A quiet home might be better to help me feel safe.

If you have some patience and are looking for a kitty that really needs a home, I hope you'll consider me! I'll always be there for you and will can be friends forever !! Please make an appointment to come and see me at the shelter to adopt or foster to adopt me today!

Please call 219-922-1766 to meet Grace!
Grace will not be a "normal" kitty as soon as you take her home. She will need time to adjust. Please consider this in your decision because it would set her back to be returned. She needs someone who will really be there for her. If that is what you are looking for, please fill out an adoption application which can be found online at TreasuredFriendsRescue.org or follow the link from our profile at Petfinder!

****************************************
Griffith Animal Control, in partnership with Treasured Friends Animal Rescue believes in giving kitties that others wouldn't normally get a chance at getting a forever home, a chance! Our fosters & volunteers work with shy and/or unsocialized kitties everyday to get them used to being pet and to show them no one will hurt them. However, when they go to a new home, some kitties will require extra time to get used to new surroundings and different people. Please consider giving a kittie who might need a little time to get used to a new home, a chance. This is a serious commitment and it sets the kitties back in their level of trust if they are given up after a few weeks or months. Please, only apply if you are an experienced cat owner and have patience.
Thank you!
