Well hello there! My name is Gerald, and I am so excited you're taking the time to read about me! I am a tortoiseshell golden eyed beauty looking for a home to call my very own. Maybe that could be with you? But, let me not get to ahead of myself, let me tell you all about me first!

I've had quite the busy life in my 5 years. What seems like a long-time ago, I was an outside kitty taking on the world all on my own! That is, until I met my last family. Our relationship started slowly. They saw me on my own outside, and started leaving me yummy treats and water outside. Of course, I started coming around more and more. As time progressed, we became quite good friends. I showed them how sweet I could be and they grew to love me. The love was mutual. Eventually, I decided that live with them sounded wonderful and I let myself right into their house! Sometimes you have to be bold. We lived together for several blissful weeks. I would still go outside often, but I found that life in a home was wonderful. My new friend loved how great I was with other cats and how much I enjoyed being pet by her. She could often find me lounging on the couch or sprawled out on the floor without a care in the world! However, this bliss was short-lived. We got the devastating news that she was allergic to cats. She'd never known because she'd never lived with cats inside her house. She didn't have the heart to have me live outside, and that's how I ended up at Wayside!

I'll be totally honest with you here. Life at Wayside was a really tough transition for me. I'd lived my life with the freedom to live how I want, go where I want, and be with whomever I wanted. So life in a kennel shrunk everything I ever knew in life. I stopped eating and I would hide in my kennel. The staff and volunteers grew concerned over me and would often try to coax me out with more yummy treats and sweet words, but I just simply could not forget my life in all its former glory. That's when I met my foster family! They heard how stressed I was in the shelter and offered to take me home for a while to help me feel better. When I looked at both of them I could see the concern and warmth in their eyes, and how could I say no to that?

Life in foster has been an adjustment too, but I've been doing so well! I don't go outside here, but I have learned how to be a "house-cat". And if I'm honest, I quite like being a house-cat! It took me awhile to learn to trust my new foster moms, but as time went on I became more and more confident. Now I'll come up to them and lay next to them to ask for pets, and man do those feel good! I still like things to be on my terms when it comes to asking for pets and to be picked up, but they respect me and my boundaries - and that's all I really ask! They love how sweet and curious I am. They said one of their favorite things is watching me figure out the house and fitting myself into their routine. Initially, I spent most of my days hidden and would come out at night when they settled in and were relaxing. Now, I'm coming out more and more all on my own to see them!

Life with my first person, at the shelter, and now with my foster family has taught me so much. It's taught me that life is all about change - and while it can be hard change can be good! Change can mean meeting someone new, a best friend. Change can mean finding new homes with new pockets of love and experiences. Change can mean becoming an even better version of myself! I think I'm ready for change again, with you - the person who will be my very best friend. The person that will choose me every day and I'll choose you every day! I promise that if you take a chance on me, I will love you with my whole heart for my whole life. So, call to meet me soon, okay? XOXO - Gerald
