Georgina's Story

Georgina is a beautiful 1-year old Scottish Straight who was recently rescued from a tragic breeder/hoarder situation. She was one of 84 Scottish Fold and Scottish Straight cats living in a 2-bedroom apartment in NYC.

Like many cats rescued from hoarding situations, Georgina starts off as a slightly shy cat whose trust needs to be earned with patience, love, and affection on her terms. She is only one-year old, but in her first year of life she did not receive enough proper care and attention from humans which has left her hesitant in interactions with people for the first time.

But making friends with Georgina is easy. This chonky girl loves a snack. Her current fosters have won her trust by sitting with her eat meal times and luring her over with churu treats which she will happily climb onto their outstretched legs to eat. She happily lets her fosters pet her while she eats and is currently in the process of learning to like pets without treat bribes in the mix. Slowly transitioning shy cats from being pet with treats to being pet without them is how we transform nervous babies into pet-loving cuddlers, so we know this girl is on her way to being a lovebug.

Her fosters also report that Georgina has a silly and bold personality, once she's comfortable. She loves to play and chase after her ribbon wand. When the mood strikes her she'll also do crazy zoomies across the apartment, impressing everyone with her parkour skills. Georgina is not currently being fostered with other pets but we suspect she'd do just fine with another friendly cat in the home.

Genevieve would do best in a loving home that is excited to be part of a sweet cats rescue journey. She might be a shy cat now, but we know that over time she will not stay that way. Genevieve's fosters are currently using the Socialization Saves Lives method (https://www.socializationsaveslives.com) to build her confidence and already her progress is undeniable. Her perfect forever family is one who is excited to continue guiding her along this method and showing her what a good life awaits.

Georgina is the perfect cat for anyone who has fallen in love with the British Shorthair and Scottish Fold breed, but is morally against the forced breeding of cats. She is also the perfect cat for those who truly want to play a transformational role in a cats rescue journey.

Georgie is available for adoption or for foster-to-adoption (a great choice for those who's goal is to adopt but want more hands-on coaching from our rescue team in the socialization process.)

Georgina is a purebred Scottish Straight. She's 1 year old, spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and negative for FIV/FeLV.

To officially apply to adopt Georgina, fill out our application in full: https://forms.gle/mgP4wfSK7Us2RW6S9
