Gene is not one of those cats.<br/><br/>Gene is a 2-year-old Persian who has decided that whatever you are doing is probably his business—and he intends to be involved. Cooking? Gene is supervising. Folding laundry? Gene needs to inspect it. Sitting down? Excellent, Gene will be joining you. He is super friendly, incredibly curious, and absolutely convinced that the world revolves around his schedule.<br/><br/>And while Gene loves people, he also has a very strong independent streak. Gene is perfectly happy to accept your affection, follow you around, supervise your activities, and then abruptly decide he has somewhere more important to be. Because, naturally, Gene does what Gene wants.<br/><br/>He is also fantastic with other cats and would love to have a feline friend in his forever home. He enjoys having other cats around and would be happiest with a companion who appreciates his larger-than-life Persian personality. Dogs aren't an issue for him either.<br/><br/>Gene's story wasn't always so glamorous. He was found outside at an abandoned property in really rough shape—underweight, dealing with diarrhea and parasites, and sporting a coat that was an absolute disaster. With proper care, good nutrition, and some much-needed TLC, Gene has completely transformed. He is now healthy, happy, and looking absolutely fabulous on food specifically formulated for Persians.<br/><br/>Because of his history and his breed, Gene needs a home that understands one very important rule:<br/><br/>Gene is an indoor-only cat. Period. End of discussion. Gene has already had his outdoor adventure, and he has officially retired from that lifestyle.<br/><br/>What Gene is looking for now is a loving forever home where he can be his hilarious, opinionated, affectionate, slightly bossy Persian self—with plenty of attention, a feline friend, and humans who understand that sometimes you don't choose a cat...<br/><br/>The cat chooses you.
