Garfield Toby's Story

Toby Garfield is a sweet, social, and wonderfully vocal boy who wants nothing more than to be wherever you are. He'll follow you from room to room, chat with you along the way, and happily settle into your lap for a snuggle. He's affectionate, well behaved, and eager to bond deeply with his person.

Don't let his mellow lap cat side fool you, though. Toby loves to play and run, and he'd thrive in a home with room to zoom, whether that's a long stretch of hallway or multiple levels to explore. He also adores a tall scratching post, his favorite toys, and a good window with a view of the outside world.

Toby was rescued after being abandoned outdoors, and it left him with some separation anxiety. He does best with someone who is home often and can give him the attention and companionship he craves. He's looking for a true forever home where he can settle in and never have to be uprooted again.

He'd also love a feline friend who plays gently. Toby often tries to engage other cats in play, so a mellow, easygoing playmate would be a great match. He'd also do well with older children who understand to be gentle, and they'd get plenty of fun and affection from him in return.

If you're looking for a devoted, funny, and chatty companion who will greet you at the door and keep you company all day, Toby is your guy!

NOTE: Toby has arthritis and hyperthyroidism, both managed with daily medication: thyroid
medicine morning and night, and gabapentin once a day. He takes his meds like a champ, especially when a treat follows, and neither condition slows down his playful spirit. He has no special diet and has been enjoying Fancy Feast wet food (and Purina
Pro dry) alongside his foster siblings. Toby is also polydactyl. Which adds a little extra cuteness to his gait, and stance. These extra toes and claws do require maintenance and clippings to ensure his toenails don't cause issues. With all the extra toes, he likes to grip and hold your hand too!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Toby is not suited to be a solo cat. He needs someone who is experienced with cats and can pill him, and someone who is home a lot. Toby will not do well when he is left alone for long periods of time without another cat or person. He also has a sensitive GI. Thus, GT is suited to a highly experienced adopter who knows what to look for, has a savvy vet in place, and knows when GT needs a vet check.
