Meet Gandalf (Special Needs)

Gandalf is a 9-year-old, mellow wizard looking for his forever home! Gandalf is a mellow, cuddly lap cat who welcomes all the affection you give him, but he also sleeps through the night quietly without demanding attention. He is extremely confident in new settings and friendly toward people he's meeting for the first time. He isn't aggressive or defensive -- he's never bit, scratched, or hissed at us. (He gives us a little warning chirp when he's had enough belly rubs.) The three fosters who have cared for him for various periods have all fallen head over heels in love with him because he's so loving and affectionate.

He likes to hang out in his bed by the heating vent, on the couch by the window where he can monitor the backyard, and on our laps. He's playful and energetic for short periods, mostly when we get home and he's excited to see us, but he's mostly a really mellow cat who likes to curl up and lounge in warm, soft spots.

He'll chase a specific sparkly toy when we throw it, but gets bored of the game quickly and wants to go back to lounging. He loves his canned food and has a LOT to say when he sees us getting out the cat bowl and/or the food can. He was very confused by the stairs when he first came to us and is still clumsy on the stairs, but he's much better about running up and down than he used to be. He barely sheds at all compared to other cats, but he does love to be brushed.

He lives in a three-bedroom, two-story house with two humans and no other pets. During respite care, he lived in a studio apartment. Gandalf would do well in a calm environment with humans who are willing to give him affection and lap time. Since he's not super playful, he probably wouldn't do well in a home with young kids who are looking for an active playmate, His fosters have not seen him around other cats, dogs, or kids.

He has to take prednisone every other day for his chronic sinusitis. It's a liquid medication that gets mixed into his canned food, and he eats it with no problem. The medication cost $13 per month. The vet said this condition won't affect his quality of life or lifespan.

If you are looking to add a friendly, sweetheart cat to your home consider Gandalf!
