FRODO DESERVES BETTER. <br/><br/>Some cats are born into loving homes.<br/><br/>Some spend their lives being cherished.<br/><br/>And then there's Frodo.<br/><br/>The details of his past aren't entirely clear, but what we do know is heartbreaking.<br/><br/>Frodo allegedly belonged to someone struggling with addiction. Over time, the cat was often forgotten, left to fend for himself, and forced to rely on the kindness of neighbors who noticed he wasn't being cared for. While people in the community provided food, water, and affection whenever they could, Frodo never had the stability every cat deserves.<br/><br/>Then things got even worse.<br/><br/>The person caring for him was eventually removed from a condo they had been squatting in.<br/><br/>And Frodo was left behind.<br/><br/>Alone.<br/><br/>Trapped inside.<br/><br/>With little to no food or water.<br/><br/>For more than a week.<br/><br/>Think about that for a moment.<br/><br/>A social, affectionate cat sitting in an empty condo, waiting for someone to come back.<br/><br/>Waiting for food.<br/><br/>Waiting for water.<br/><br/>Waiting for someone to remember him.<br/><br/>Thankfully, someone finally discovered Frodo and got him the help he desperately needed.<br/><br/>When he arrived at Homeward Bound, we immediately got him veterinary care. Years of neglect had taken a toll, and Frodo was suffering from severe dental disease that required extensive treatment.<br/><br/>The good news?<br/><br/>His dental procedure was a success.<br/><br/>Today, Frodo is eating well, feeling better, and proving every day that despite everything he's endured, he still loves people.<br/><br/>He still seeks attention.<br/><br/>He still wants affection.<br/><br/>He still believes humans are worth trusting.<br/><br/>Our veterinary team also identified an issue with one of his eyes that may require additional diagnostics with a specialist in the future. For now, it isn't painful and doesn't affect his quality of life. After consulting with our veterinary partners, we decided that what Frodo needs most isn't another medical procedure.<br/><br/>It's a home.<br/><br/>A real one.<br/><br/>Maybe his first.<br/><br/>Frodo is playful, affectionate, talkative, litter box trained, and loves to snuggle. Like many cats who have experienced trauma, he needs a little time to decompress and learn that he's finally safe.<br/><br/>But once he does?<br/><br/>We think he's going to make someone very, very happy.<br/><br/> We'd also like to ask for your help.<br/><br/>Cats like Frodo often arrive with significant medical needs. His dental treatment was essential to relieve years of pain and discomfort, and future diagnostics may still be needed.
