Forrest (a.k.a. Professor Crums) Tabby Norfolk, VA

Forrest was rescued by FAN when he was brought to a vet with severe pain and dehydration. Owners could not afford treatment and decided to surrender him. After a long couple of days of tests and supportive care, it was determined that it was nothing serious, but he had a really bad GI upset. Afterwards he improved very quickly and significantly. Forrest is now a happy and healthy senior kitty enjoying long naps and tasty treats.

Forrest didn’t appreciate all the rowdy youngsters in his foster home and initially got a little offended and upset, but he quickly warmed up to the chaos and earned the respect of others.

Forrest is a senior kitty and will need more care and monitoring than a young kitty would. He is good about communicating any discomfort, so that will help in knowing when he needs attention.

SENIOR CATS MAKE AMAZING PETS

Kittens aren’t for everyone. Senior cats are a calmer alternative, with lots of love to give. Looking for a nice, cuddly lap cat? That’s what you’re likely to get when you decide to adopt an older cat.

1 - Cats live a long time (up to 20 years), so you’re likely to get many years of loving companionship even when you adopt a cat who comes with some birthdays under their belt.

2 - Senior cats are generally more relaxed. They’ve likely been trained, so you can avoid the pitfalls and accidents of kittenhood.

3 - Senior cats are great for people who live in apartments. Older cats are laid back and more likely to jump up into your lap (or next to you) while you watch TV instead of wanting to play.

4 - Older cats already have established personalities, making it easier for you to determine if they're a good match for your family.

5 - If you have a busier lifestyle, a senior cat may be just the right companion. They typically like to soak up the sun all day and wait for you to love on them once you come home.

All our adoptable cats and kittens are:
— spayed / neutered
— vaccinated (rabies & FVRCP)
— microchipped, so if they get lost (and found), they can easily be scanned and reunited with you!
— tested for FIV & FeLV diseases
— parasite-free (dewormer & flea prevention)
— provided additional veterinarian visits, if needed for any health issues
— conveyed to you with all medical records at time of adoption

2. MEET-N-GREET: We'll set up a time for you to get to know each other, whether at their foster home and/or Norfolk's Catnip Cat Cafe
3. CONTRACT: If we both determine you & your kitten(s) or cat (s) are a good match, then the adoption proceeds. Contract is completed, signed, fee is paid, and your new furry friend(s) can go home with you!
