Fern's Story

Hi, I’m Fern — your future professional lap warmer, certified chirp machine, and full-time affection enthusiast

My day doesn’t officially begin until I’ve had my required “lay in lap” time, so I hope you’ve got a cozy spot ready for me. I’ll let you know I’m ready with my signature sound — a tiny squeaky chirp. I haven’t quite figured out how to “meow” yet, but honestly, why would I? My polite little pipsqueak voice is way cuter.

Once I’ve found my spot (your lap, obviously), I’ll settle in for head scratches and booty pats while making the sweetest little air biscuits you’ve ever seen. I live for affection — headbutts are my love language, and I will absolutely melt into your hands the second you start petting me. If you scoop me up and cradle me like a baby? Even better. That’s premium Fern time.

I do have a playful side too! I’m a bit of an acrobat when it comes to string toys — leaping, flipping, and showing off my moves like the tiny athlete I am. I’m also a very polite housemate: I use my scratchers like a pro, always know where my litter box is, and fully support a routine that includes wet food for breakfast and dinner (non-negotiable), plus treats whenever you feel like telling me I’m perfect.

I might be a little shy when we first meet, but give me a few gentle pets, maybe a treat or two, and my curious little heart will take over. Before you know it, I’ll be glued to you.

I’ve met other cats, and let’s just say… I have high standards. I’d be perfectly happy being your one and only, as long as you’re ready to give me all the love and attention I deserve (which is a lot, just so we’re clear).

Oh — and my fluffy belly? Yes, it’s as soft as it looks, and yes, I expect it to be admired.

Love,
Fern

Fern is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting her, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org.

Adoption fees are as follows: $175 for a single cat or kitten, $225 for a pair of cats or kittens. When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment.

Animal House of South East Michigan, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment. Our adoption fees are as follows: $155 for a single cat or kitten $195 for a pair of cats or kittens Please note that we do not do same day adoptions and all adoption fees are non-refundable. AHSEM treats every adoption as "foster to adopt" This means that the first two weeks in which you have the cat is the "foster period." We do our best to ensure the right match for all involved and want to give the cat(s) time to decompress and adapt to their new environment. However, we realize sometimes things don't work out as expected. Therefore, during that two-week period, if something doesn’t work out you can bring the cat back. We are also flexible if more time is needed to determine if its the right fit. We will always take our cats back even after the "foster to adopt" period. We would hate to see them end up at a kill shelter, abandoned, or any other unsafe situation.
