Emilia

Emilia (13 weeks old as of 7/31/2026) is a spayed female brown tabby tuxedo short haired kitten. Emilia was found when her feral mother stumbled upon an old unused outdoor cat shelter at a long time foster family's house in Wadsworth and thought it was a good place to move her 3 and a half week old kittens. The fosters heard tiny mews outside and went to investigate, and mom was so startled she just ran off! The kittens however were frozen with fear and let the fosters pluck them up one by one by their tiny scruffs. Because they were rescued thanks to "playing possum" Emilia was named after the Emilia's Short Tailed Oppossum! Meely was the runt of the litter, and very scared, but she started coming around quickly when she started bottle feeding and the progress kept going when her mom was caught the next day. A few weeks later as they were weaning they got a little sick and being the smallest Emilia needed the most supportive care, and that's what really sealed the deal for her. She loves people now, spends a lot of time in laps, and usually purrs as soon as we touch her at home. She's highly food-motivated; no one gets as excited as she does for canned food, and she can fall into the Napoleon stereotype at meal time as she needs to have a bowl all to herself and may still grumble harsh warnings at her siblings. She's super playful and gets REALLY into dribbling small lightweight toys or any little bits and bobs she can find around, sometimes she even gets aggressive guarding her favorite toy of the moment from her friends. When she simmers down she loves to cuddle other cats and especially loves winning over big cats, and seems like she will do pretty well with any playful cat that can handle a goofy little sister. She hasn't lived with dogs but watches dogs on TV all the time and would probably adapt to a calm, cat friendly dog well. She's super playful and would learn to love playing with kids very quickly, but she does like gentle pets and sometimes as she gets to know new people her bravado fails her so she might not be the best choice for over-eager toddlers that can't give her a little space to get used to them.
