Effie's Story

Effie (3 years old)

Effie is a slightly chubby black cat with striking green eyes and a short tail. She was discovered outdoors and has never lived inside a house before. This is a gentle cat, but she is quite shy and wary. She is not mean in any way, but if you reach to pet her, she will let you know that you are invading her space. Though she's curious about people—especially if they offer snacks, soft voices, and a steady, predictable routine—she currently prefers not to be touched. If you’re one of Effie’s select few friends (an extremely small group), she may allow you to extend a finger, and she might gently touch it with her nose. Her latest breakthrough is licking a whole Churu treat off someone's finger, but only if they avoid making eye contact. This is genuine progress on the path to socialization for her! Besides Churus, Effie enjoys watching the world through large windows and curling up in extra-soft, deep beds. She belongs to the “tree dweller” category of cats, meaning she loves tall spots where she can hide and observe. A tall cat tree with a cozy cave would suit her perfectly. Effie is a special cat, and she needs a special owner who has experience with cats who are learning about the indoors and about trusting people. A quiet, peaceful home where she can be your one and only without competition from dogs or kiddos would be best for Effie.

OK with Dogs
: No
OK with Cats
: Unknown; she would prefer to be your one and only
OK with Kids
: N0
