Meet Demetrius

Demetrius is a great cat. He has had a rough few years living in a colony. When we trapped him two years ago and brought him to our facility he was not good with the other cats. He was aggressive and dominant. So unfortunately, we had to release him back to the colony.

Fast forward two years, one day when we arrived to feed him, he was limping, so we brought him back to the office again. His injury was the result of a cut, so we gave him an antibiotic and were determined to try to make it work this time around. He has been an ANGEL. He has not picked any fights and when a couple of our dominant cats try to bully him, he either rolls over or walks away.
Most of the day, he sleeps on the bed next to the computer monitor, or looks out the window, or hangs in our catio. He is independent and yet he got along with the cats at the colony, so with the proper introductions, he will do well in a home with another cat.

He is a big cat, weighing approx. 15.6 pounds and about 5 years old, but he is a lover. He loves pets and he loves to rub his face against yours. We love him so much and are happy he has changed his ways.

He tested positive for FIV or Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. Don’t let that scare you. With proper nutrition and veterinary care, FIV positive cats live a long, healthy life like any normal cat. FIV is also very hard to transmit to other kitties and can only be passed through a deep bite wound. As long as the cats in the home get along, Demetrius is totally fine to live with FIV negative cats!

He also loves to play with toys and will make a great companion.
