Curran's Story
***Sharonville location***

Back in February, we took in the sweetest boy—an unchipped Sharonville stray. Our neighbor, who found him, reported he had come to her house off and on, but she hadn't seen him for a few months when he showed up after midnight on February 4th. This kitty decided it was cold enough to finally let her pet him and bring him inside. No one claimed him through social media posts, and he wasn’t chipped, so with the approval of our manager, Lois, she brought him to Heartt on February 6th.

Since this charming boy needed a name, we decided to join in on the excitement that Sharonville had a resident in the Winter Olympics, and we named this cat Curran!

On February 21, 2026, Connor Curran and his teammates, Chris Lillis and Kaila Kuhn, of the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Team, took home GOLD, in freestyle skiing mixed team aerials! On March 12th, our very own ConnAIR Curran visited Heartt Animal Refuge and met his namesake Curran and autographed some stickers!

Curran has a lovable demeanor that instantly melted hearts at the shelter. At Heartt Animal Refuge, we isolate strays for 60 days to ensure the most accurate combo test results. Curran never became cage aggressive and happily accepted attention from our volunteers, whether we were moving him to clean his cage, petting and brushing him, and even dressing him up! We all eagerly accepted his nose boops.

On April 7th, Curran was neutered at Animal Care Center, and his combo test came back negative for FIV and FeLV. Based on his teeth, Curran was estimated to be 3-years-old. He was calm for both car rides, and he continued to charm everyone he met.

We transitioned Curran to a free roaming room, where he was happy to have access to more food, toys, beds, windows, and space. He showed no aggression to any other cats, but he didn’t seem eager to befriend them either, preferring to run up to volunteers for attention instead. This is when we noticed that Curran kicked out a back foot when he sprawled out, and he wasn’t a fan of having his toe pads touched. He never hissed or cried, he just pulled his foot away.

On April 16th, Curran went back to Animal Care Center for x-rays. The results showed us that Curran was born without a toe on one back foot, but he definitely endured a trauma at some point in his life and that injury healed incorrectly. Dr. Corfman explained that there was no need to amputate, since Curran does move around with ease, but eventually, he will experience secondary arthritis due to that fracture and joint injury.

It’s been a few days since that appointment, and Curran continues to coexist peacefully with the other cats in room 2. He still prefers humans, but we have found him sleeping and hanging out in close range to some of his roommates.

Curran is ready for a permanent home with someone who will shower him with love and attention! His adoption fee is $100.00, and you must be at least 21-years-old to adopt. Curran’s new owner will also receive a Connor Curran autographed sticker (original autograph) and action photo (copied autograph)!

Please consider making an appointment, at our Sharonville location, to see if this practically perfect boy is the right fit for your household. Our shelter does have a policy to only adopt within a 50 mile radius, so that if problems arise, the pet can easily be returned to the shelter.

Heartt Animal Refuge
11354 Reading Road
Cincinnati, OH 45241

For more information about Olympic Gold Medalist, Connor Curran, visit:

Instagram: connorcurranfreestyle

YouTube: @connorcurranfreestyle

Website: www.connorcurranfreestyle.com
