Meet Cola

Name: Cola

Age: About 6 months

Breed: Domestic Short hair

Reason for being at shelter: Trapped stray

Description: Update: Cola has become more sociable and interactive with people. She is curious and always on the prowl to search out new discoveries or find something to play with or on the hunt for treats. Cola doesn’t like being picked up or held but she is now more amenable to being stroked from heat to tail across her back. She is better at mingling around people than when she first arrived.

Cola is probably the longest-term kitten resident at Kitty City. She arrived at a time when there was a plethora of kittens on the waiting list to be spayed, spent all her time playing and dodging people, then quarantined without contact during a recent sickness that spread through the shelter. For all those reasons, Cola is still here and hasn't yet been adopted. It also explains why she is a flighty, free-spirited kitten. She was used to running about playing and skittering away from people that she wasn't forced into interaction. Although, she bonded well with a volunteer and would sit on her lap, take naps there, and get fed goodies and treats. So, we know that Cola has that potential to go back to that behavior and get rid of that bad skittish behavior she inadvertently adopted. Cola is still playful, and she still likes her share of treats and wet food. But it takes time for her to develop trust and friendship with people. Her best friends are other kitties. With time, love, patience, and effort, Cola can and will find that people can be trusted and befriended, too. She needs that right person to bring those good traits back out of her memory. We know she wants it despite her initial reluctance.
