COALSON's Story

HE WAS ONLY 8 WEEKS OLD. THEY WANTED TO PUT HIM BACK OUTSIDE. ONE RESCUE VOLUNTEER HAD OTHER PLANS.

Meet COALSON—a handsome little Russian Blue boy who was supposed to be just another community cat. Instead, he's become a professional snuggler, a champion playmate, and a tiny, fluffy scarf who sleeps draped across his foster mom at night. But his story could have ended very differently.

A TRAP. A TINY GRAY FLUFF BALL. AND A LIFE-CHANGING DECISION.

By the time Coalson came along, a woman with a large cat colony on her property had already worked with Lucky Cats to trap-neuter-return a significant number of cats. Progress was being made, one cat at a time. Then she contacted the Lucky Cats clinic coordinator about a mother cat and kitten she was trying to catch and get fixed. The night before the clinic, she reported that she'd caught the kitten—but not the mother. The coordinator assumed the kitten was probably older. Perhaps one who had spent too much time outdoors to be easily socialized or successfully transitioned into a home.

Then the woman arrived at the clinic. And out came THE TINIEST LITTLE GRAY FLUFF BALL imaginable. He was no more than 8 weeks old.

The coordinator was stunned! This little boy was absolutely young enough to learn that people could be trusted, that hands were for petting, and that a home could be a safe and wonderful place to grow up. Excitedly, she explained that with a little time and patience, this kitten could be socialized and adopted.

The woman's response? She had no intention of keeping him or finding him a home. He would have to go back outside. The volunteer's heart sank.

This wasn't some unchangeable fate written in the stars. This was a tiny kitten, at an age when he still had so much potential to become someone's beloved companion.

And the coordinator knew right then and there: NOT THIS KITTEN. NOT IF SHE COULD HELP IT. She made up her mind that this little boy would not grow up facing the dangers of outdoor life if there was any way to give him a different future. Later that day, she informed the woman that the kitten had been taken by a rescue. And just like that, Coalson's story took a different turn.

FROM SCARED LITTLE KITTEN TO PROFESSIONAL SNUGGLE BUG

Coalson was shy around people at first. After all, the world had been a big, unfamiliar place, and humans were still a mystery. But give a kitten safety, patience, and a little love, and sometimes the transformation is magical.

Today, Coalson is quite the snuggle bug! He's discovered that playing is wonderful, being petted is pretty fantastic, and sleeping next to his favorite human might just be the best thing in the world. In fact, his latest nighttime routine involves climbing into bed with his foster mom and draping himself across her like a little fluffy gray scarf. Apparently, a regular blanket simply will not do when you have a perfectly good kitten available.

Coalson has gone from a tiny, frightened kitten in a trap to a little boy who wants to be close to his people. And that is exactly why we do rescue. Because sometimes, all it takes is one person willing to say, “This kitten deserves a chance.”

NOW COALSON NEEDS HIS FOREVER HOME!

This handsome Russian Blue boy loves to snuggle AND play. He's got the beautiful smoky-gray coat, the irresistible kitten face, and the growing confidence of a little guy discovering just how wonderful life can be. He's ready for a family who will give him the security, affection, playtime, and companionship every kitten deserves.

And if you happen to need a fluffy scarf for chilly nights? Well, Coalson may be able to accommodate you.

Coalson has been fully vetted and is ready for adoption!

Neutered
Vaccinated for distemper and rabies
Treated for fleas and intestinal parasites
Microchipped
Tested negative for FeLV/FIV

He was almost sent back outside. Instead, he got a chance at a completely different life. Now, the final chapter of his rescue story is waiting to be written.

Will it be with you?

COALSON: A LITTLE GRAY FLUFF BALL WITH A BIG HEART, A LOVE OF PLAYTIME, AND A SERIOUS TALENT FOR SNUGGLING.

He was given a chance. Now he's looking for someone to give him forever.
