Meet Cheetah (In Foster Home)
Age: Adult
Breed: Tuxedo
Reason for being at shelter: Abandoned
Description: Update: Amazingly, in a matter of about a week in a foster home, Cheetah morphed from terrified kitty to lap cat lounger. It took love and persistence from her foster mom to experience the transformation. And how wonderful it is. The shelter was not the place for Cheetah. She is loving the idea of one-on-one attention and being in a calm home. Her foster mom released Cheetah’s from her fears. Contact the staff at Kitty City to arrange a visit with Cheetah in her foster home for potential adoption. When adopted, Cheetah will undoubtedly require time to transition into her new home. Her adopters need to understand that, have patience, yet be willing to work with her and push her boundaries of socialization to bring out the best in her.
Cheetah is a terrified kitty. She doesn't know why she was abandoned. She doesn't know why she is here. This place certainly isn't home to her, and she doesn't know the people that try to visit with her. Her reaction is to hiss and spit. But slowly move your hand to her head and stroke her and she doesn't hiss and spit nor does she scratch or bite. That just shows how terrified she is and that she is not mean or aggressive. She's just frightened beyond belief. We're working with her to help her realize we are a friend. We don't know how long she was an abandoned stray or what she experienced but something tells us she didn't fare well with any of it. Slow movements, a gentle touch, and soft words are helping. She accepts being petted around her head and ears but trembles if you stroke further along her back and tail. Her coat is so silky soft.
OPHS is appointment only. All potential adopters must fill out an adoption application prior to setting up an appointment to meet the animal. An application can be found on our website using this link https://www.ophumanesociety.org/cat-adoption-application. Please allow 3-5 business days for us to process your application. We are screening the applications for the first BEST fit for each animal. If you are approved, you will be contacted by us via phone or email to schedule an appointment.
