Meet Cami

Oh Cami- what can we say! She has had a tough row to hoe. She was adopted and then returned twice because she just isn't a lovable cuddly cat. She experiences a lot of stress...

Cami has had a very hard time in the shelter. She is scared of most everything. She hides most of the time. If you are looking for a lap cat companion, Cami is NOT the cat for you! But if you want to rescue this girl from a life of constant stress, she has been waiting a LONG TIME!

We are currently working with CBD oils to reduce her anxiety. We have a plan to continue looking for other solutions that might make her life more enjoyable.

See the interview with Cami here:

FCHS: Hi Cami, can we open your condo door to ask you a few questions?
Cami: I don't remember agreeing to this interview; I think you should leave. (Faces away from the interviewer, hissing)
FCHS slowly opening door: We just want to learn a little bit about you, and understand your fears that seem so debilitating.
Cami: If you must, but I don't have much to say.
FCHS: Your history is that you were a foster kitty and your first adoption family brought you back because you were hiding all the time. They loved you, but didn't understand you. Your second adoption had a similar outcome; you were loved but you seem not to be able to relax and let your guard down and give love back.
Cami: I can love, but I don't express it in the typical manner that is expected of a cat. People want me to be all rubbing up against them, purring, rolling around like some kind of rubber ball. That's just not who I am. I have worries that prevent me from expressing my true feelings.
FCHS: What kind of worries; what are you fearful about?
Cami: Everything; global warming, nuclear war, chem trails, 5G. (taking a swipe) Don't come near me with your cell phone; stay back.
FCHS: Sorry. Have you tried interacting with any of the volunteers or helpers since your return?
Cami: I watch them from my window. I see how they all play and everyone is laughing. The others chase toys, jump up on the cat towers, like the well adjusted felines they are. I just can't make myself do it. Sometimes I just want to hide forever; I get so sad.
FCHS: Who do you think would be the right match for you? And who do you think you can love?
Cami: The right match would be someone who literally has unconditional love to give me. By that I mean they will love me regardless if I fit the standard 'cat mold'. They would accept that I may or may not display my love for them in a conventional way. I truly believe that over time, a long time, I can feel comfortable if I'm not pressured to be who I am not. I do have hope, I really do. Every pot has its cover, as they say. This is a very emotional topic; I'd like you to close my condo door and leave now.
FCHS: Thank you Cami; we have hope for you too. The right person is out there for you.
